i was expecting more noise gains, but i guess that's only because i'm running the car with the stock exhaust.
i know because my friend's car got alot louder after he added Greddy on his 4th gen...

Yes, the Stillen muffler is just the rear section (after b pipe). Get ready to go deaf if you plan on using the y pipe and Greddy. Jane has it on her car and that combo is EXTREMELY loud. I can be heard coming down the block, but she can be heard from blocks away.
I got the y-pipe with an universal straight through muffler with 2.5" inlet-outlet. The y-pipe has a deep growl at idle, much like a cobra mustang or camaro z28. At WOT it's still remains deep until about 5000rpm where it picks up this nice Ferrari 350 wail up to redline. I enjoy it. It's a bit loud for a family car. But, i'm living with it.
i just got a 2000 maxima-wondering about y-pipes
i just got my 2001 maxima about 3 months ago, and i was wondering if the y-pipe is legal here in california and even if it isn't do u guys still have one? and also do u guys put it on yourselves or do u have a place install it.
and i only have about 4,000 miles on my car, is it too early to put one on, or should i wait until the warranty expires?
thanks,
any info would be helpful

Most shops won't do it for you, but if you find a shaddy shop there should be no problems. If you do put it on, I don't suggest going back to Nissan to do warranty work because they'll see it.
I got Y-pipe
from stillen. I had it as my first performance mod. I had to install it myself since most shops would not do it. I like the rumble it makes when I start the car. specially when my wife starts the car in the morning for me, to let it get to temperature before I drive. I goes "Vrrrrooommmm" Like a V8. The increase in power is pretty good for such a small moddification. and yes it is totally illigal in CA, but you have 4 years till your first smog check, so enjoy. y-pipe is Highly recommended.
