Fram filter and Valvoline synth?

What criteria are you guys using for saying that Fram filters and non-Mobil 1 are no good? Some of you seem to be using a lab for used oil analysis like airplane owners do--cool. Same for filters?

I used that combo several years ago. Then I cam to the conclusion on my own that Fram filters are cheaply made crap. Pureolator and the Nissan OEM filters are much higher quality. Even the AC Delco filters are very good quality. I still use Valvoline Synthetic oil though.

Someone (can't remember the link) once took apart all the major filters and did an analysis on the guts. The conclusion was that Fram were not made that well and Mobil 1, K&N oil filters,OEM and some others were your best bet. If I remember, the best filters were made by Champion (they make the K&N, Mobil 1 and others)

what are you guys paying for mobil 1 oil and filters? Dealer charged me $7.99 for factory filter saying that this was a discount. I've seen mobil 1 in the big botttle at Wal-Mart, do they have the mobil 1 filters too?

sascuderi...the org member you are thinking of is bill99gxe. The reason most people don't like Fram or some of the cheaply made OEM ones is that they use cardboard endcaps instead of metal.
