fix for shuddering mirrors

I know I've seen this mentioned, can't find it again. Is there an end-user fix for my jittery door mounted rear view mirrors?

glad to hear you don't have shaky mirrors. anyone know the fix? I don't even see how to get into the mechanism to see if I can ge the slop out. Those $19 ESMs on eBay look real tempting about now.
