I just started having a knocking noise come from my engine when I start the car (as the rev's come down). Why do the Maxs’ rev so much when u start it? now after i leave it for a few hours and i start it i hear a really fast knocking noise( as if the pistons are hitting something or miss firing sparks). After the start i hear no noise at all, smooth and quite ride. My friend had read something on .org about Ignition coil may have burnt out causing this noise at startup. but I don’t know if I have the same prob on a 03’. I hope this is not serious.

I have a 2000 that does the same thing.........not all the time though!!
Usually if it sits a few days!!
I had an oil filter that the anti drain valve was bad and it would happen every start!! Changed the filter and all better!!

did the dealer tell you that it was a bad drain valve?
does this still happen after you changed the filter? I think i have like 400miles before oilchange so should i go earlier or wait. i just dont want any long term damage.

Could be a bad motor mount, have the dealer check them.
