centre armrest quality
Hi, I am still trying to see if anyone else is having the same quality difficulties with their centre armrests. My 2001 GLE armrest was wobbly and squeeky from day one. The dealer insists this is normal. I find it cheap. Is there anyone who knows of a fix or has had similar problems. I would like it to be a little more solid feeling and not so wobbly? Thanx.

I find it less than rock solid as well, but with my driving position and the 5 speed, I 99.9% of the time have in in the 'down' position.
I am not sure anthing can be done that won't interfere with the operation of the 'height' adjustment.

Re: Re: centre armrest quality
mine does not wobble, however it does not lock in the up position as does the ones in my mom and dads maximas, this is very irritating as it is useless to me because if i put my arm on it, it will just fold back down
any suggestions?

maxima... world class motor (if you get a hot one) in a rather ordinary car. think about handling, squeaks, rattles, vibrating hood, wacky power windows and sunroof behavior... the armrest design and execution looks like something out of a Renault--which it may well be.

Are you talking about when it is in the extended position? If so, look at how it is constructed...that should answer your question...

Speaking of the armrest, (I may be the last person in the world to discover this), but I didn't know there was a small "secret" compartment right under the top of the armrest. There's no button or switch for it, but you just kinda pull up on it. It's very thin, but flat, so you can set things on it. (like fries from McDonald's, lol) Just didn't know it was there. Forgive me if I'm the last to realize this.

hmmm I will investigate this "secret compartment" when I leave work.....
but at least I can say, this armrest is 3000% better than the altima one....the altima one is rubber and it sux..its cold as hell in winter and warm in summer...
I do find that the minute u rest ur elbow on it, the thing pops up on you..
I try to leave it raised, but then you can't fit big drinks in the cupholders....oh well
its a small problem...I'll deal

on the popping up thing. It happens to me quite often when throwing a shift and I've got no need for the extra height.
The secret compartment was discovered when I picked up the car. It was the main compartment that I had trouble finding
