Not sure what to do / need ideas

Ok, I've got a 2k3 SE that had the dim check engine light. I waited months for the new cluster to come in and while I was waiting my door ajar light started doing the same thing . I figured the new cluster would fix them both.

It didn't. So I just waited until my next oil change (actually 3 month intervals for my low mileage) and had them look at the problem again (which was today BTW). The service writter called me in the day and said they were stumped on what could be causing it and when they called the Nissan Tech Line (which I would love to get the number to ) they informed the dealership that it could be a bad ground somewhere in the system and would require 1 - 2 days to find it.

Here's my problem, I don't want them ripping apart my car and trying to blame my stereo / neon (which was installed after the problem) or just messing things up in general. Anybody know what the cause could be? The door switches seem fine.

Thanks.

No, the dim CEL was just a faulty cluster...that's fixed. It's the dim door ajar light that is still on. Oh, all the doors are closed

of course they will blame after market equipment--do you think they have a choice? did you have the stereo installed professionally? if so they might pull the unit for you before you take it in. I have a wacky power window that won;t stay up on my '03 SE and I have the same concenr... i don;t want them ripping my car apart--it has enough rattles already.

Spta97,

Did you install led's in any of your side markers or interior lights, becasue I had installed them in my side markers which in turn gave me a dim dor ajar light....lets just say after the dealership had my car for over a week, replaced the cluster 2 times, the door module and a wie harness they came back and tol me that it was my led bulbs causing the problem, they took them out put the stock ones back in and everything was fine, I have not changed them back, but i go for my 1st oil change Sat so I will be putting them back in after that.

Hope this helps

As a matter of fact I've got the wedge LEDs all over the car including the side markers! However, I'm not sure if I put them in before or after the problem.

Did the dealership say why they caused the problem? Oh, they were probably REALLY PO'ed at you Good thing they didn't charge you for labor

I got the same thing as you, there was a bad ground somewhere, that why they replaced the wire harness. I also could not remeber if i had the prob b4 or after i installed the leds, no the dealership was actually very nice about the whole thing.

I bet if you remove your leds it goes away, btw if when I reinstall mine the light comes back on I am just gonna live with it b/c there is no good quality red bulb for the side markers

The funny thing is I never had this problem on my 2k2, only on my 2k3 go figure.
