UDP Installed - Working great, but not sure if the crank bolt is tight enough???
After several problems, such as a broken tension bolt, and a wobbly pulley, my buddy and me finally got it right. New tension bolt, and the wobble was corrected. However, we did not manage to get it tightened up to the recommended 140 ft/lbs. I'm gonna try to get a shop to give it a tighten with an impact gun when i get my inspection done tomorrow, but i was wondering if any of you know how critical it is to have it to 140 ft/lbs? we got it pretty tight and all and its definatly not goin anywhere, but should i make a good effort to tighten it some more??

I wouldn't tighten it to 140ft-lbs. Since aluminum is a soft metal, tighten it to about 120ft-lb's and you should be just fine. You've probably got it tight enough already. I've found that on two aluminum pulleys I've installed, like the Unorthodox, if I went to 140ft-lbs the bolt actually made an indentation in the pulley and almost looked liek it sunk slightly, and was almost impossible to get off.

hmm.... good thought. didnt think of that aspect, the aluminum being softer. i mean that bolt is on there and isnt going anywhere, so i might pop off the wheel, give it another yank today, and be done with it. thanks for the tip

well it certainly doesnt make you lose power, this goes for any and all RPMs... which is unlike some modes, such as cat-back which will usually lose some low end power. throttle response is definatly better with the UDP on, and the engine is able to rev up quicker, therefore allowing the car to accelerate quicker. the hp thing gets kinda tricky though... as far as what belts to use, go to: http://maxima.theowensfamily.com/udp.html this is Studman's website and all the info you need is there (unless you have an auto tranny which is slightly different, as in my case)
