Strange Noise - Help!

I'm hearing a faint metal-scraping-sound in my max. It almost sounds like the tip of a paper-clip rubbing on a piece of metal. It only happens when I accelerate or decelerate using the gas pedal. Bumps and braking don't cause the noise, nor does it happen if I apply the gas with the clutch in or with it in neutral.

It was doing it consistently last night and this morning, but after driving 30 minutes home, the noise is gone. I can hear it clearly from the driver's seat, but if I open the window (to see if it's coming form outside the car) I can't hear it over the window noise. It almost sounds like it's coming from behind the steering wheel, either inside the car or under the hood.

I've checked all the pedals, and they seem to be fine (plus it doesn't do it if the clutch is in). I have a FrankenCar but I checked it and it's secure, plus it doesn't do it with bumps.

Any suggestions?

I remeber reading that thread a while back. But they're all talking about it happening at startup and at idle... mine is fairly consistent... when it happens it happens the entire time I'm driving (city to freeway), although it has gone away a couple times, but when it comes back it's for a while. Plus it's not THAT loud... if my radio is on or even my air beyond fan level 2, I can't hear it.

I dig the sig pic. Is that from zoolander?

Check the heat shield behind the rotor. The metal could be rubbing. I had the same problem back then..
