I got stopped by a state trooper here in Illinois this evening. I have a Cobra ESD 9850 radar detector which I purchased a couple of months ago and it's gone off every time (in the past) I've noticed a police car in the area.

Somehow I got nabbed with a radar and my detector never went off. His estimate of my speed was correct by about +/-2mph.
Luckily he was being a nice guy (thank god) and gave me a warning.....the same thing happened to my ex-wife here in illinois, although she wasn't as lucky. She has the Cobra ESD 9200 and she got a $95.00 ticket...oh well.

Any guesses as to how he caught me without the detector ever going off? Is there a new radar band out that this detector does not pick up? I don't want to get nailed again.

I had a Cobra 9000 a couple of month's ago.I know it was a cheap on but I'm trying not to spend a whole lot,anyway I didn't care for it at all....When it pick up I was already ontop of the police; so I had a 30day trial on it so I sent it back....I also had a Bel 870.This one worked really good..A few times I thought I was getting false alarms;but another half a mile down the road they set...(everytime) but I didn't like the ditial voice ...So I sent it back too...Now I'm gonna try Escort 6800...I'll let you know about it.....
