need to get 2k2or2k3 but stuck with 2k1

i have about 18,000 left to pay off my 2k1 auto with 31k miles on it, now the issue is i want a 2k2 or 2k3 6 speed, i dont care what year as long as its a 3.5L 5th gen,im not liking my sluggish automatic, should i sell my car now and if so for how much?? or should i do a trade in?? i also hear its very rare to find 6 speeds. Im sure someone else on the org have considered doing this so opinions would be helpful

I've been pondering the same thing. I have a 2K1 auto with 18K miles, fully paid off and want a 6 speed. You are better off selling the car privately then being offered $12-14K by the dealer. Check KBB and edmunds.com to find the value of your car. The other problem you'll run into is locating a 6 speed in your area.

I decided to stick with this car and save up for an M3, my dream car.

You'll need a turbo system running 1 bar+ (14.7psi +) in order to get a 2k1 auto to accelerate like a 2k2+ 6speed.

LOL, negative... Running 1bar with a turbo or supercharger in a tuned 3.0L maxima nets you almost 500 crank horsepower buddy.

Help the newbie out..What is 1 bar? On this topic, I like my 2k2, but it seems that the blower would save money. Seeing that you are looking at used ones, that would mean that you are trying to save money. The blower can give you power, and do that.

booooo! well if so i hope it isnt a system from turbomaxima.com,with the V2(stillen) i was hoping to get at least somewhere to low 14's,but if were talking turbo@ 14.7psi isnt that another story?? hopefully an air/fuel ratio upgrade with the blower wil help me break 14's but then the problem of too much power to the auto comes in.

i have a 2k and i am doing the same research now...your best bet is to find a wholesaler, or a friend that goes to auctions and pick one up...2k2 sticks aren't that hard to find...the last 3 wks at manhiem(sp) pa, they have had several ea. wk. i am turning in my lease in 2months, so i am being specific with what i am looking for. the two guys i know both told me that in a couple weeks they should be able to find exactly what i am lookin for. by the way, auction price is between 14,900, and 19,500. that is up here in the NE. may be different down south. don't give up hope.

I can guarantee a stock 2k2-2k3 will be more reliable than a 2k1 with a S/C.....

and oh yeah..kiss ur warranty goodbye after installing it

Hold on to your car because you already know that if you trade it in you will loose money. If you sell it yourself you still won't get 18K for it either.
