Just got back from the stealership...
Well, since my brakes are giving me problems, I took my car in to the dealer today. Surprise surprise, warped rotors. Surprise surprise, not covered under warranty. I ended up having the rotors resurfaced or whatever they call it and had them change the oil as well. I walked out spending $147. He tried to get me to put on new pads as well as my current ones are down to 30%, but for that he wanted $240. I told him no. I'm not paying that kind of money for the sh1tty pads that came on that car. I'd rather buy A/M ones. God I can't stand dealers. Anyway, what do you guys recommend for decent pads? How much longer on my current ones do you think I have? I've been told that I tend to brake hard, so that's something that I'm trying to correct now. Any suggestions welcome.
Dude, u just posted another thread about this, and didn't wait long enough for answers. I'm assuming they charged you close to $120 for the dang resufacing job. That's plain ridiculous. If you take off the rotors yourself (which is easy) and take it to a machine shop, it would cost your no more than $50 to get them resufaced. Heck, if they take it off for you it would still be about $60-$70; shouldn't take that kind of job to the dealer. We all could've told you that the dealer wouldn't replace it under warranty.
Also, now that you have them resufaced, you need to get new pads because the new cut rotors will start eating your pads. You should've waited and spend that $120 toward better rotors. Getting these rotors resurfaced won't help you with warped rotors. The problem will come back eventually if you drive hard. The stock rotors aren't good enough for the heavy maxima.
Good luck....

$50?? **** that, a local machine shop here does them for $5/rotor... Then again it's recommended to use an on-car lathe for resurfacing front rotors, so I'd believe $50 perhaps...
That really p1sses me off. I can't believe those greedy bastards charged me $119 to do something that most shops do for $50 or less. Unf*cking real. All that and now I find out that the crap needs to be replaced anyway. DAMNIT!!!
This isn't to get on your case at all, it's just to give you the best advice i can....
The thread you started earlier was at midnight this morning; on a monday morning. For things like that man, give it a couple of days. People have to come back from the weekend and such.
My brakes are badly warped as well. They still stop in time, but just uncomfortable, and i started a thread about the same issue as well, and it had enough info that would've steered you clear from the dealer.
Like u said. What's done is done. But, NEVER take your car to the dealer for stuff like that. If so, bring some vaseline to ease the pain. Just learn from it.
Best thing to do now is to get some aftermarket rotors. You can find the brembo ones on ebay for around $250. Get some good pads to go with it. Will probably run you close to $400 total with shipping. I don't like to drop that kinda cash neither to fix a problem that Nissan should've taken care of, but that's what we have to do.

Dude,
I used to be a Nissan service advisor. We wouldn't charge a customer to resurface a rotor if it was warped. We warrantied it for the first time. The only way they can charge you is if your pads were worn out and they were resurfacing them as regular maintainance. Not for pedal vibration.
I would call consumer affairs @ 800-Nissan1. Unless they can prove customer neglect, misuse they have to warranty such repairs. If it was a repeat problem, maybe they could say you drive to hard.
