Ecu Tsb

I was wondering since the ECU is warrantied for 80k, if I get the ecu update will it be covered under warranty or is that something I will have to pay????

Did your "check engine light" turn on and stay on? If yes and the scanned trouble code (DTC) is ECU or Catalytic related then the update and scan fee should be FREE. You can get a free scan at Autozone and perhaps other parts stores. Go to http://www.iequus.com/3100.asp?CatShort=CodeDef to get the definition and/or affected component.

Any update intended to correct a glitch/bug/defect in the ECU software that causes your CEL to turn on should be FREE up to 80K miles. Get the service writer to agree to the warranty conditions before handing him the keys. Bring your warranty booklet in case he conveniently forgets the components covered (Federal Emmisions Warranty). Call 1-800-NISSAN-1 if he doesn't agree.

For anyone past 80K mi., this repair shouldn't cost more than one hour's labor. Good luck.
