2002 se automatic acceleration

Seems like all the reputable sites such as car and driver dont provide it, becuase they most often test manual cars. I know that for a 2002 SE with stick the value 0-60mph is flat 6.0sec. I have an auto, so i was wandering what is the exact value to 60mph and quarter mile. Please post relevant links that would have info for AUTOMATIC 2002 se only. not intersted in values of stick cars.

thanks

The only mag I recall having the 0-60 time for the auto 5G VQ35 Max was Consumers Report and that was a ridiculous 8-second 0-60 time.

C&D driver did a one page test of the heavier I35 and got 7 sec. flat to 60 in late 2001. So expect mid to high 6's to 60.

stock auto 2k2 maxima... 0-60 time is 7.5 - 8.0 seconds. The Consumer
Reports i think is right because my previous auto 2k2 maxima did 0-60
in 8.0

No way. Sure, I'm biased, but here's my guess for Consumer Report's 0-60 test:

Put car in gear
Step on gas

No launching at 1,200 rpm, no manual shifting. I also doubt that C&D did any of the above, they're just likely to be better at launching the car.

My guess is that the 6-spd is actually good for <6 sec. 0-60 (remember, an Alty did it in 5.9), and the auto will run 6.3-6.5 (note that this would all have to be in near-perfect conditions).

I just finished reading two threads where stock 2K2 autos ran 14.8 in the quarter mile at something like 92-93 mph. There is no way that those times translate into 0-60's that slow.

I agree with Maximax2; I'd guess low 6 seconds to 60.

Are you sure it's not the 2000-01 model? The last time I read from the Consumer Report Magazine. They tested the I35 (heavier than the Maxima) at 0-60 in 6.9 seconds.

if you cant run below 7 seconds in a 2k2 auto there is something wrong with your car or your driving abilities. or else you have passengers in your car or 20" chrome.

Yup!! Saw it in the magazine section of Stop & Shop right after I purchased my 2K2; it was the new car issue. To add insult to injury, they ran low 16s in the 1/4 mile.

You got that right any 02/03 running 7.5-8 secs is a dog. thats running slower than alot of 95-01's stock.

Don't go by anything Consumer Report says. The WRX can do 0-60 in the mid 5's we all know, but CR got 7-something. They take it VERY easy when testing, which is stupid when all the car magazines have times 1 or 2 seconds better for the same cars, it doesn't help CR's credibility

That is absolutely incorrect. They must have tested a 2001 and just placed in the new car section with a pic of the new. As dumb and uninformed as they are they probably didn't even know the engine was different for 2002 and just ran the old one.
