Fuel Filter

I have a 2K Maxima and need to change the fuel filter. Could someone tell me where it is located and how difficult? Thanks, Mark

Why do you need to change the fuel filter? 5th gen filters are made to never be replaced. If a dealer told you that you need to change it he lied to get you to spend money on pointless maintenance.

actually, ours is called 'fuel strainer' rather than a fuel filter. and although the manual says it's a maintenance free item, depending on many circumstances, many pollutants can get inside the strainer and clog it over time. i replaced mine about 3 weeks ago and mine was dirty. a new one at the dealership costs like $15 or so. it's not an expensive item to replace. just make sure you get 0-ring for the gas tank. once you take the 0-ring out from the gas tank, it'll expand and you can't use that one again. the O-ring is another $6 at the dealership.

no. you don't have to drop the tank. you can gain access to your fuel strainer by removing the rear seat cushion.

it's not really that hard to do this, but do take your time. and make sure you are doing this in a well ventilated area. and uh....gio....don't smoke while doing this.

It's actually pretty simple to change it, take off the back seat butt cushion, undo three screws, take off three clips, take off 6 more screws, pull the whole unit out, take it apart to get to your fuel filter, replace it and do the whole thing backwards again. In a nutshell
