lost to a 325/328 last night

on the twisty of course... we were not really racing.... cuz street racing is
anyway.... last night at about 12.. I am driving my normal route back, and see the 3 series pass me pretty quick... I can't really tell if it's a 325 or 328 (definely not a M3 and 330).. and since he is going pretty fast and I know there are three big turns coming up, I want to see how my car can handle again the 3 series... so I gun it after him mainly between 2, 3 gear... now.. I have driven on those three curves many many time and I know I can take it comfortably at 60 mph (FSTB, RSB and beefy 234/45 yoko A520 tires) and in my friends M3.. I took it at 90mph before... so I keep up pretty well on the first turn... and second turn.... then.. third turn.. he just left me.. he put about a good 6 car length on me when I come out of the curve, I admit I took the third turn too wide.. so body lean was......

As soon as I put my suspension (HR and Tokiko) is on (been sitting in the basement) I am going BMW hunting.....

Don't underestimate the positive influence of traction control. I believe TC is standard on both the 325 and 328. With the already great handling of the 3-series, TC turns even an average driver into a great driver in the twisties.

Cool. Kinda nice to see how you stack up sometimes. But you have to remember that he might not have been pushing it and he might not have realized that you wanted some until about the 3rd turn? The shocks/springs will help but DEFINATELY get a rear sway bar. Even then, if you are not a better driver, I believe you will still lose. Bascily, it comes down to who is willing to approach the limits more. ie.. you might hang if the bmw driver is only willing to go up to about 70% and you push it to 90% w/ all your suspension mods.

Jeff: he is definitely pushing it... can here his engine roar.. and I do have RSB...

Max'n out: I am not ****ing with BMW... just want a chance to push myself and compete with it... you know how you never know your limit when you are alone... but when there is someone there to compete.. you push it harder...

Cool. The rsb should help. You could hear his engine roar but was his car steady though the turns?? If yes, he had ALOT left in the chassis. In fact there was probably more left in the car's suspension than ***** on the driver.

yeah.. his car was steady.
I made this big mistake of been too close to the right side (it's a right hand curve).. while he actually most to the center of the road (two lane road), thus I had to hit the brake a little...

I have an 03 max. I raced a bima 328 and 540 -- Took out both cars. Too much hype about bimas... they really don't have all that power unless you're talking about M3 or 5's

Relax man I was just playing around.

Sizzo, if it was auto forget about it, the 540i 6 speed is pretty good, easy on par with the maxima speed wise, and out handles it. 330CI is good again the manny. THe 325's dont' have it.

Twistys, turns, traffic... It doesn't matter. A knowledgable racer can maneuver these. Yes, bimas handling may out perform max's, but both handling or speed mean nothing if you don't know how and when to use them... it's meaningless.

OK, so someone posted a bima 540's 0-60 time -- 5.5 1/4. <--- What does that mean if the driver has no skills???? DOH!

6spd Max runs neck and neck with GS 400 up to 130 mph
GS 400 runs neck and neck with 540i Manual up to 150 mph
GS 400 is faster than 540 Auto

what does this mean?

a 6spd max will be on par with a 540i Manual up to 130 mph
an Auto 02+ Max should be on par with 540 auto

Everything I've mentioned is personally what I have experienced. I have been racing for a while man. What you can run on the track is your bizness. Your car may be able to take me out on a straight away, but I beg to differ how you would fair against me on the mean streets...

The others here that street race like that are idiots too? So if you kill someone just because thousands of others happen to kill someone, that makes it right? Do you fish?

You're OFF-TOPIC: we're talking twisties here.

We all know the Maxima's straightline prowess against the BMW.

Generalizing is fun.
I always figured that the typical driver was a 40yr old woman.
