auto tranny filter
auto tranny filter
I am planning on changing my automatic transmission filter in my 2k1 but I have heard something that bothers me that I can't confirm... From what I hear, the older maxima's used a nut inside the tranny that when the bolt for the filter was taken off, the nut would just fall inside the transmission and your screwed.. Is it like that on the 2k's. I would hate to start this and end up with a mess like that.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Why would you want to change the filter in the transmission? It's just a screen and is not something you'd really ever need to replace. You might clean it while you're dropping the pan or something but even that is for people with too much time on their hands...
In a 2k it's only a screen, not a filter. I would suggest cleaning it while you have the pan dropped. It only takes about 10 minutes. Last time I dropped my pan I found a little bit of metal filings in the screen and a lot of buildup. Totally worth the 10 minutes to clear that stuff out of there than risk it going back into the internals of the tranny.

Only if you turn the tranny up-side down. I replaced my screen at 32 kmiles. But was told it also was un-neccesary.
