raced a 350 z today

I don't think you will be able to hang with the Z for to long since the speed limiter on the Z is 156 to 159 MPH

Re: raced a 350 z today
You have got to be kidding. There is no way in god's green earth you were keeping up with a Z. I know your story is B.S.. First I'm pretty sure the gear ratio in the transmission of the Maxima are different so is the gear ration in rear end. Second their is about a 25hp difference between the cars not to mention weight differences. I'll race a 04 maxima any day of the week. I'm not trying to flame on maxima owners as we are all Nissan owners, but when I see a lie I know it. Oh, by the way those maxima owners saying they drove a Z and were wondering where the power was, quit lying to us and yourself. Until about a month or so ago most, if not all dealers in the VA area wouldn't let you drive the car until the financing was approved. I know that for a fact as I went to 8 different dealers in my area and not one would let me take it for a test drive. Even if the dealership let you drive the car your not going to get max performance until the engine is broken in properly. Not to mention the fact that this car does 0-60 in 5.4 sec's and it's a NA V6. If I had to have another car it would either be a 04 Maxima or Murano.

You have no idea of what you are talking about, i dont just post something that is not true just to ammuse young punks like yourself, When i bought my maxima from shearwood nissan edmonton they OFFERED to let me take the 350 z out for a ride, to make me spend more money but i said no because i no i would want it, maybe you should clean up a bit before you go into a dealer and they might think you have a little money maybe and they would let you drive something, you think iam or any normal human would buy a $45,000(canadian) car without driving it, your crazy.!!! For me keeping up to it, quarter mile time for 350z is 14.2 sec, max is 14.7, how many car lenghts is that at the end would he be ahead? figure it out genius, its only .5 of a second if both of us had a perfect launch, you think he would be a mile ahead "get real buddy" dont call people liars when you dont know them, and dont know what your talking about yourself, what i said was true he only had 1 car lenght on me until he shut down, like it or lump it

hmmm, you see appearance is everything. I never heard of being denied a test drive, unless you looked shady or weird. Nowadays all kinds of people have money actually(even people who 'DO' look weird or shady, Young guys, whoever), and have no problem taking a car for a spin. Everyone doesn't finances cars, some people just buy them, cash. I happen to know of a dealer who sells everything, to people who pay. (Lamborghinis, Mercedes, any exotic car you can imagine to all sorts of characters no questions asked) and that story of being "denied" test drives for a 350z pre financing approval is just silly, no offense. Maybe around there, the policy is strange. I live in New York, and alot of people have money here and can afford 26K cars no problem. I don't mean to add flames to the fire, but this is just FYI. Do you think when Jerry Seinfeld walks into a Porsche show room, they ask him to pre-approve financing before he romps the latest porsche around then says "Ehh ok I'll take it, throw it in my 3 zillion car garage".
A 350z was rare when it first came out granted, but that is not the case anymore. It's not being treated like its some exotic or something, if thats what you meant.
Also, if you consider your post, do you honestly believe 25 horsepower makes a leaping difference? The car is a sports coupe, and handles sporty, No it doesn't have a significant horsepower advantage.
People don't seem to think 25 horsepower is leverage over another car. If you honestly believe that to be true, then those 25 'lil extra ponies you believe to be leaping out of the 350Z are going to give it that much of an advantage, why don't you try and run one?
25 horses is not the difference between a Porsche turbo and a toyota camry. It's 25 insignificant horses, and that power rating is inaccurate anyways, as I've been countlessly told, witnessed in my car, and read on the dynographs printups of people who have had their car tested (both 350Z and 2k2+max) our cars true rated power is quite similar. We have virtually the same engines.
This has nothing to do with a modded 350z, so leave this out, for arguments sake (Since it was never proved, nor disproved that he raced a 'modded' 350z, though doubtful).

To both Biggun and Biged8. First of all I am 26 year old software exec and probably make twice as much as both of you combined but that's irrelevant. So as far as looking shady nice try. I also paid cash for my touring 350Z. Even being a family friend of the GM of the largest Nissan dealership in the DC Metro I was not allowed to drive the car until a deal was made, In the metro area it was most dealers policy not to allow test drives. Maybe you live in a rural area where car theft in not high but we have the Port of Baltimore not more than 45 minutes away which makes an easy get away for car thief's. As for Jerry Seinfeld walking in to buy a car and being denied a test drive. You must be the dumbest person I've ever run across. He's a TV star who in the hell doesn't know who he is. As for not knowing what I'm talking about. Have you two ever been involved in professional motor sports as a driver? I have and if you two need proof I'll send you any documentation you need. If you knew anything about cars you would know that a difference of 25hp is the difference between 1st and 5th place at the finish line. As for the stat's you pulled from a magazine. That truly shows your ignorance. Those of us in the real world live by our own time slips not those of the magazines. If you maxima is so fast then race it against a Z at a drag strip. If you want to compare magazine times 0-60 in the Z is 5.4 seconds the best I found for the maxima was 6.4 that's more than a second difference. For those of us who are educated car drivers we know that 1 second is more than a car length.
My analogy with Jerry Seinfeld may of been a poor one and Irrelevant, i did not proof read what I wrote, and it came out silly. I will give you that one. Anyways, on to my reply:
Uhh Do I live in a rural area? What the hell is new york city, a rural area? Perhaps your attitude discouraged them. I can test drive any car I want, i don't need to prove my "financing capability". It really adds to your point that you resort to calling me a "dumb m*****er". It also helps prove your maturity, professionalism, and certainly adds emphasis to why a dealer would take you seriously and allow you to drive one of their "exotic cars", the 350z, one of the rarest and most special vehichles on earth. I don't have problems taking cars for test drives, I own 5 vehicles, I'm 23 years old, and I'm sorry but you have no idea how much I make or what I do, so don't make assumptions. Dont you realize what happens when you make assumptions? Go ahead and run a 2002 max, your 25 horse power difference. I suppose since your involved in "automative racing" your car is generally slow considering it replaced a twin turbo Z which with minimal work would of chewed you up and spit you out. You are so concerned about winning all of those races after all!
Only ricers need brag about 25 horses. I'm sure you can add a nice big fat muffler on and accessorize with plastic parts to gather some more horses to "own me". Don't forget to paint on some stripes and add stickers. Perhaps growing up might help too.

Just for reference, the old VG powered 89-94 maxima had 160hp/185 ft lbs torque. The 92-94 maxima Se had 190 hp 190ftlbs torque. That's 30hp difference vs 25 hp difference. That is a BIG difference in power. Ask anyone who has driven/raced both. 25 hp is pretty big for anything less than 300hp. You know 650hp vs 625hp is not that big relatively but 280-ish to 265ish is alot. You would be hard pressed to squeeze another 25hp out of a NA powered engine. Would probably take most of the bolt on mods available.

So why are all the 4th gen guys scrambling to get mevis? Because you get top end and low end power. Just because you can't notice the extra 25 hp during a piddly 1/4 run doesn't mean it doesn't make a big difference. Why do all of us spend alot of $ to get an extra 10-20hp if 25hp is not THAT noticable? Don't know about you but I'd kill for an easy 25hp

But anyways, my friend has 350Z Touring 6-speed and I drove it and tell you the truth I didn't feel that it was much faster compare to my car.
Z gets it peak torque later compared to Maxima, so maybe that is why it didn't feel that fast off the line.
As for racing one, I never raced him, but I did another Z, not sure if it was 6-speed or Auto and I stayed on his rear bumper the whole way.
You are right though about test driving Zs, my friend here in Boston couldn't drive Z unless he actually did the deal as well.
He got it though when they just came out and dealer didn't have many in stock.
