Bent Rim
Bent Rim
I fell in a pot hole on CT RT7 the other day. Since then, I have been feeling a little vibration and went and got it looked at this afternoon.
My rim is bent!!!!! I still have the stocks on there,Titanium edition.
The mechanic who lifted the car thinks i will definitely need a new rim and of course a new tire as well since there is a nice bubble on it currently.
What are my options? can i have the rim bent back in place, and does anyone think it will be the same? How much will all this set me back and are there any other alternatives? HELP!!!!!

Sorry to hear about your situation.
I recommend that you replace tire. I had the same thing happen on my 16 inch 99' SE rims. Bubble in side wall is a NO-NO - you must replace. If your tires are fairly new... you can just replace the damaged one. But if the thread is low/mid already you might have to replace in pairs.
About the rims, I never had any repaired BUT i heard through my wheel source that a rim repair is $150-200 to fix.... you are just better off buying a new one. - IF you keep the bent one...SEE IF YOUR MECHANIC CAN BALANCE... balancing the rims will probably be very difficult - may still have vibration.
good luck... i hope i was able to shed some light.

My tires are pretty new. I have 8000 miles on them. I just got this car this past February. The tread is minimal.

I bent two of my SSR-GT1 rims on my other car
(2000 Volvo S70 GLT SE) awhile ago. Just for the hell of
it, I sent one rim to
http://www.wheeltechnologies.com/
and one to
http://www.wheelcollision.com/
The verdict:
Wheeltechnologies charges a flat rate of $125 to straighten
and repaint/refinish any damaged wheel. This price
includes free shipping back to you. If the wheel is not
repairable, the will send it back to you and not charge you
anything. The straightening job was first rate, but the
finish could have been just a bit more refined. Overall, I
would definately use this company again if I ever bend
another rim. Price and service are both excellent.
WheelCollision inspects the rim first, then gives you a
price. Unfortunately, the price that they give you, is
more than likely an inflated one. They charged me about
$200 to ONLY straighten the damn wheel(didn't include
refinishing/repainting), and didn't even pay for the
shipping back to me. IMHO...WheelCollision is a big waste
of your money. They straightened the wheel just fine, but
charged almost twice the amount as WheelTechnologies to do
it.
In terms of your decision to buy a new Nissan Wheel ($600-
800 from dealer, $250-350 refurbished?), or fix your bent
one, I'd take the plunge and pay $125 to try and fix it at
WheelTechnologies. I definately WOULD NOT leave the wheel
bent and simply try to have it balanced out by adding
weights. Chances are, the damage is on the wheel lip. With
this kind of damage, there is a chance that the tire could
come unseated while you are driving if you hit another pot
hole or bump. Not safe at all.
My fixed SSR-GT1 rims came back as round as new. No point
in spending all that money for new rims when your old ones
are easily repaired.
Anyhoo, if you decide to get the wheel repaired at another
place, I'd love to hear about your experiences.
Good luck!

Same thing happened to me last week. It costs just under $600 for a new rim from Ni$$an! I called up a local place, http://www.wheelexchange.com/ and it will cost $250 for a refurbished rim.
Good luck!

I bent my rim on my 03 TE this past winter. I went to sports car tire in wilmington delaware to have it fixed. Rim is fine. The tire never bubbled so I kept driving on it. I've since put a bout 4k on the car with no problems.
I also bent a rim on a different car once. This rim looked trashed. Same place fixed it and I couldn't even tell it had ever been touched. That was on my 95 Talon which I still have. At the time the car had 60k on it. I now have 130k on it and it's been fine.
Take it to a place that can fix 'em

Yeah your best bet is to find a local reputable rim repair shop. The cost can be anywhere from $75 to a couple hundred depending on how bad it is. I had two rims that were actually bent at the spokes and they wouldn't repair them, they were too unsafe. Oh well it gave me an excuse to upgrade my wheels,
Bent Rim
So I am in Buffalo, NY on business this week and next. I go to Mike Barney Nissan and they have the rim that i am looking for. They are asking $590 for a brand new rim. They also have the same rim in stock, however one of their detailers sprayed something on the rim that took away most of the titanium finish off the wheel. They want to get rid of it. Asking price is $100.00 I will not hesitate to buy it but where can i get it refinished for a reasonable price to have the same titanium look.
Since I am in Buffalo for the rest of this week and next, does anyone know a local place where i can get this done? Or a place close to NYC so that i can have it done when i get home? either place will work for me. Any help is appreciated.
