Fog light bulb replacement
Fog light bulb replacement
I am looking for some yellow H3 bulbs. Has anyone tried putting some yellow ones in? How do they look? Got ne pics? So far, I can only find the PIAA Ion Crystal which have a yellow filament. Does anyone know where I can find a good deal on those?
I used to have the PIAA Ion Crystals in the fogs before they got removed for the intercool piping. The cheapest you will find them for are about $25 a bulb.
The are yellow on whatever it shines on. But when you look at the fog light assembly, it looks all wierd colors.

The IS300s have yellow covers, which is what makes them look that way. No aftermarket bulb can touch them.

They used to sell these yellow stickers that you could put on over your stock lenses on ebay, but I don't see them anymore.
Yellow lens paint would work also.....but I think pulling the foglight apart would be a PITA.

it's a lot more yellow than the pic can show...most of my friends think it's an IS300 then realize it's me. 2 people asked if i had IS300 fogs modded on cause that was a "strong" yellow.
edit: the fog glass is 1" glass. getting that off would rquire a good amount of heat, which at the end would prolly melt the housing first. an idea which i am going to try on my extra set of lens is do like the tail lights and spray the inside from the hole where the bulb goes in. thirdly, i can make my yellow even more yellow by using what used AND then getting gold or amber bulbs. keep in mind what you see in that pic is a sticker overlay using OEM 35watt fog bulbs.

you need medium, small is too small, i believe we measure ~5x5. i speak for 2k2 and 2k3. i know 2k and 2k1 are slightly smaller, so you may get away with getting the smaller sheets.
look at it this way, everyone knows that the fog lens have a tendency to crack (i know this has been brought up) so if anything, even if you don't get yellow, get clear and protect your lens.
enjoy.

I hear ya about the cracked lense, i'm already a victim of it myself

word to the wise, dont' even bother replacing your lens. if you put the yellow sheet on top, you won't even be able to notice it. i bought my lens before i got the film, so that was a waste of money. i'm gonna be using the old fog housings for testing purposes/hid practice retrofitting.
Has ne one used the clear film to protect their headlights? I'm considering that in addition to the yellow film for the fogs...
Great pics...This is exactly what I have been wanting, but didn't know how to get it.

I used the clear protection and still got a cracked lense.
The lense cover is thick, so it must have been a large stone to cause the crack. The cover only seems good to protect from small and medium sized stones, nothing larger than a pebble at highway speeds. I never heard anything hit the light, just noticed it one day.
