hey i was wondering...a friend of mine has a 2000 and she can't get into her trunk unless she uses the key i read the how to and all and wondered if the same method would work for the 5th gen' dats in the 4th gen forum...???

 

Can you possibly reword that last part of the question?

 

I haven't checked on our 5th gen's yet. But I remember on my 3rd gen there was a little sliding lever inside, under the latch of the trunk that allows you to activate the trunk release button up front.

 

Do you mean disabling the trunk release button inside the car?

 

Yea. I'm too lazy to go in my garage and see exactly where it is.

 

There is a switch in the trunk to disable the key fob release and the remote release from inside the vehicle. This is a valet switch, so that, when activated, ONLY the main key will open the trunk.

Why would you do that? I like being able to click from far away...

 

The same reason you'd lock the glove box, lock the back seats, and hand a valet the "valet" (red) key. You do this so that, when you go somewhere and let a valet take your car, you can stash your drugs, alcohol, firearms, explosives, dead bodies, etc. in the trunk and not worry about the valet stealing what's in there.

 

how do you lock the back seats?!?!

 

I don't have a picture of the thing right now, but you know where you pull up the plastic button to release the back seats? If you look, there are black keyholes there on either side. Have to use the master key.

 

The 00-01 has the lock switch on the inside back, right in the middle of the seat.

 

Valets don't touch my car and who the heck wants to steal a dead body???

 

You do make a good point there.
