I love my max guys!!!! Yesterday night i was at the taco bell parking lot and a guy came front of my car and he was like "yo nice car, do you wanna race me... i have a bmw" i was like "yeah of course, why not" so we went on the highway (from died stop) I put "3"... brake and gas until 1500 rpms... AND..... I smoked sooo bad about one and the half car ... it was a 3-series BMW, 225hp, inline 6 cylinders, 5 spd, an intake and nice 19's chrome rims... later he came with his friends and they ask me a lot of questions...
you know... what i have on my car... blah blah blah!!!! Im thinking the guy that was said that he can beat me with his 95 bmw 325 (stock)...

Im sorry guys... it was 2.5 liter, 184hp, I6... I just checked http://autos.msn.com/vip/engines.asp...=10648&src=vip
What a moron; I mean, first, he paid way too much for his car (or somebody did), and then he thinks its actually fast enough to race. You ought to be able to take 325, 525, and 530 without too much trouble. You should also be able to run pretty good with a 330.
325 with 184 hp no problem, 330 with 225 hp
will be driver-dependent.....these things have been tested 0-60 anywhere from 5.9 secs to 6.1...they are no slouches.
Good 330i driver against good Maxima 3.5 liter driver = Maxima wins
Good 330i driver against lousy Maxima 3.5 liter driver = Bimmer wins
Any reasonable 330i driver against Maxima 3 liter driver = Bimmer wins
These of course are for either street (eegads) or quarter-mile or less sprints....once past 100 mph the 3.5 liter Max will gradually begin to pull away from the Bimmer...more HP to overcome wind resistance...

As for comparison I drove my friend's 2002 330Xi 5-speed and that car has no torque, it felt so underpowered compared to my car.
So I am not sure where did they get that 5.9 sec to 0-60 for 330.
0-60? - worry about the 1/4 - the bimmer should get owned by the VQ35DE - even if auto its pushing 30 more hp and more torque - the only thing i can think of that might be the the bimmers advantage is RWD and maybe lighter weight? - but the 330 should get wasted cause ive raced and read about many a max beating the e36 M3's which have 240+hp and are good for 5.5 0-60, people underestimate the max, ive launched better than a non STI wrx that he said he got a bad *** launch on.. you just have to learn not to smoke those front wheels

Zero to 60 mph 6.0 sec
Zero to 100 mph 15.7 sec
Standing 1/4-mile 14.7 sec @ 97 mph
I couldn't find any numbers on car and driver for bmw, but road and track had...
Zero to 60 mph 6.2 sec
Zero to 100 mph (none)
1/4 mile 14.8 sec @ 95.4 mph
These numbers are both for manuals. Seems pretty close to me for 225 hp and 214 lb-ft of torque vs. 255 hp and 246 lb-ft (Maxima weighs 186 pounds more for these particular test cars).

The only current 3 series model with any chance of running the 2K2+ Maxima is the M3 (and of course that'll kill the Max).
Here's my 330xi kill story: I was heading out late last Saturday night to pickup my wife from work. As I'm waiting at a stop light, looking to make a left turn, I see some HID projectors rolling towards me in my rear view mirror. Some dude and his girl/wife/sister (whatever) pull up next to me in the second left turn lane. Light turns green and I do a moderate acceleration (as I am turning left) and the Bimmer is to my right keeping pace; once we both straighten out he nails it and I (almost instaneously) do likewise. Though I didnt pull hard on him, he was definitely fading when we rolled to the next stoplight. Light turns green and it was only even through my 1st gear, once I hit 2nd I jumped a car legnth on him by third I'm about 2-3 car legnths on him. At this point I called it quits as we were on a large street, as oppose to a highway. When he rolled past I noticed the '330xi' moniker and just started shaking my head. Dislaimer: I dont know whether or not he had a 5sp manual or auto.
Equally equipped, the non-M3 3-series is no match for the 2K2+ Maximas.
Peace.

The Current 3 series arent about straight line speed. I mean come on, the 3 liter engines is only putting out 225hp. The 330i is a nice well rounded performer. It's geared more towards handling and braking. I bet I can count on one hand the number of Maxima's that can run faster times at the track and they have major money in brakes, tires, and suspension.
Today i saw the guy with the bimmer and he was like "yo you wanna race again?" i was like "lets go bro" and he said "im just kidding man, give me 2 weeks"
i was like "alright" and the girls that was there they smiled me
