how much you want to spend?
driving conditions (rain, snow, etc.)?
handling you want (softer or more controlled)?
etc., etc., etc.

Re: Anybody have 225/50r17 Nitto-NT450's???
I have them on my Max and I'm very pleased with them so far. I was going to purchase regular OEM tires, but did a little research and found the Nitto's were far cheaper with a more aggressive-looking tread. They definitely out performed the stock tires by a long-shot and eons better in the rain. Also the treadwear is fairly high for the price, although the only drawback is that they are noticably louder than the OEM's, which doesn't bother me because I always have the music cranked up. Now I haven't tried any other tires for comparison but my opinion is that they are definitely worth the money and I would buy them again. BTW my friends are also happy with Kuhmos and I think they're about the same price range, too. Hope this helps...

...Just checked the tire and wheel forum and the general consensus was that these tires are a pretty good buy, better in the rain than the Bridgestones OEMs...
Even Andy (who is pretty critical of auto parts in general) said he has owned 450 and 555 and was very pleased...

If you have alotta money, get the Michelins.
If not, you can try the 225/50/17 Falken Ziex-512's. I have those right now. Pretty good tires for the money. Much better than stock.
I believe Firestone, Goodyear, and now Kumho make tires in our stock size too.

Nittos are better than the gay blowtenzas, are there better tires for the stock size yes. That was not disputed, but the craptenzas are the worst OEM tire I have ever had. And we are talking about the stock size not the 235/50 or the 235/45 or 245/45 low profiles.....
225/50/17 is what we are discussing, also the Falkens would be my recommendation at this point.....

I did a lot of research into tires recently, I didn't want to spend the dought the Pilots cost, so I bought Yokohama AVS ES100 in 225/45/zr17 and have been very pleased, but, I have only had them on the car 2 days! I considered the Kumho Ecsta KH11, the Nitto 450's, and the Falken Ziex's, but I ordered the Maxspeed Lowering Springs, so I opted for a little better tire in the 45 ratio.

I liked my Nittos, but it doesn't ever rain here. I hear they totally suck in wet weather.
My 555s are the best tires I have ever owned. Between Toyo Proxes FZ4s and Nitto NT450s, the Nitto NT450s were way better, hands down. T1-S's are comparable to the Nitto NT-555s.

Well, NT-555s suck big time in rain also. It actually rained today and I couldn't get any traction for the life of me. I was severely disappointed in them. Luckily it rains about two weeks out of the year here.
Also, now that I think about it, NT-555smay not be the best tires I have ever owned. This is my first set of wide wheels and tires, so that is probably what it comes down to. Although, I must say that I am always glued to the road in dry weather.

I've got Nitto 450s on my 02 Max, so here's my opinion:
1) They are better than the OEM tires.
2) They keep traction and form even when they warm up.
3) They do not grip great in wet conditions.
4) They are only slightly louder than the OEM tires.
5) The loudness is not noticable if you drive with the radio on.
6) They have a more aggressive tracking pattern than the OEM tires.
7) They do not wear down as fast as the Falken tires do.
8) If I had $250+ per tire, I would have Pilots.
9) But since I don't, I went with the Nitto's.
10) For the money, they are a good tire.
11) The key words are "for the money".
12) The ride is smoother than the OEM tires.
13) These are my opinions. I don't care if you don't like them. I don't care if you don't agree with them. That's why they are my opinions and not yours.
14) I am done with my opinions.
As always, do research first. Everyone has an opinion, as well as a "personal preference" based upon certain factors. Don't let any one person sway you towards or away from a tire or brand because of one statement. Take your time and you'll be satisfied with your choice.
