From grille-tech. Not real happy with it cause it started to rust a bit last winter. I primed and painted it this spring...so far it's holding up well

I removed the grille, washed it with Dawn, rinsed it really good and let it dry. I used a grey primer (in hindsight a darker primer would have been better). Got a can of Super Black from a local paint store that specializes in auto finishes. The can had a 'fan' spray pattern...much better than the circular one on most cans. I did about 7 or 8 light coats. Lightly sanded between the last few coats. No clear coat, as the store said it wasn't needed cuz of the paint formula.

It's not perfect, but not bad for a rookie.

wow, that looks really cool. been wanting to do mine but I'm debating it since I have a grey lustre and probably wouldn't look as good. But I wonder if I painted it black... might get a nice contrast.

BTW, you go by the name "Bluesbrekr", is that after the Marshall Bluesbreaker or am I totally off track?

How'd you get the lower grills to look almost brand new? Which color spray paint did you use for those lower mesh grills. Mine look sooo ugly b/c of the rust

Not sure how black would look with your body color. Maybe try a photoshop first??

Screen name is in reference to John Mayall and Eric Clapton's 'Bluesbreaker's' band from way back.....

I used a wire brush to clean off the rust, primed with grey and used silver wheel paint for the finish coat. Tried to match the stock rims. The pic was taken in the sun, so they shine a bit more than they really are. But still better than the original finish.

Where did you get it painted?

Where did you get the grille painted? Did you do it yourself or did you bring it somewhere?

brought it to a shop that owed me a favor, so they did it for free. but, average costs would be from $60-$80. if they complain about the base they're painting on, tell them it's fine, it's plastic chrome and not real chrome, so some sanding should get it down to a good surface for the primer. my place thought it wouldnt' stick well, but when they gave it back to me, they said that it's a good painting surface. nothing to worry about.

I love the way the cars looking man, keep it up!

I'm getting my front bumper and spoiler repainted in 2 weeks, I've had it with paint chips, and the sap got on my car again!!!
