$104 + tax to replace in cabin microfilter?!?!?!

I tried searching on this topic, but searching seems to be disabled.

I took my 1yr old '03 in to have the filter checked, among other things.

I think I can almost believe that nissan burried the thing in the glove box and it's 1/2hr of labor.

I think I can almost believe that the part is $48.

What I can't believe is that the labor rate is $110. This is Northern Colorado, folks. I know these jobs are graded, why not apply the grade to the rate. This must be a C or a D.

For $110/hr, don't think I'll have the dealer do anything not under warranty again.

Re: $104 + tax to replace in cabin microfilter?!?!?!

What are you really asking? Should it cost that much?

I just changed my cabin filter today myself. Very easy, just need to remove the glovebox, 6 screws, piece of cake.

The cabin filter cost me around $44. I usually assume labor rates are around $60 or per hour so if it takes half hour, which it took me, it should only cost you around $30 or so for labor and then the part, so basically, $100 for the whole job might be right but rather high.

it is not a 1/2 hour in labor. it's like 10 minutes if you know what you're doing. the directions should be in your manual.

The dealer I go to only charges $69.95 for an in-cabin microfilter change.

Buy the filter from DAVEB and follow the instructions on Courtesy nissan's web site (or search for the link). <$40 total

Much easier than my old 328is. That was rediculous! You needed monkey arms/fingers and a mechanical engineering degree to get to it.

It filters down to 3um. Openning the door or driving with the windows down kinda defeats the purpose.

Dealer said I had a BUNCH of leaves stuck up in there. Is there no sort of grate/prefilter?

The dealer wasn't happy with my laundry list of noises either. "We have a 12mo/12,000 mile adjustment period, which your car is out of. No charge today, but next time.."

If I have the urge for another maxima it will be from a different dealer. Maybe a G35.

Well, some had it as an option, some were standard. One can be added if you didn't have one from factory. They are $$$ because they are carbon-activated to remove odor...that and it's an accessory they can gouge us for more $$$ with!

Actually, it works quite well, but it is a PITA to get the new filter halves back in the slot without cocking them.

No need to have a dealer replace it though.

If I am not mistaken, all cars have the 'housing' into which the filter can be placed. Just not all cars came with the filter itself.

I think.

Whos "DAVEB"? where can I reach him? Because its about time for me to change my micro filter and I don't want to pay $100+ to have somebody do the job.
