SES light...

Sorry guys I know the SES light problem has been on the board recently but without a search I couldn't find it. Here's the prob:

Driving home tonight I was very low on gas and my SES light came on, I tried the instructions for resetting the ECM but couldn't get it to work. Should I take it to Nissan and have them pull the code or is there some way that this is related to being low on gas? Sorry for what is probably a re-post, but I didn't have time to read the last SES question. Anyone know how to reset the light? Thanks in advance for your help.

I had my SES light come on last Thursday. I went to Autozone where they can perform a free diagnostic. After I had the code pulled, (Slow O2 sensor in bank 1), the guy was able to delete the error message. I am crossing my fingers that the SES light doesn't show up again.

I called the Nissan dealer and asked if he would pull the code for free, or if I should take it AutoZone and have it pulled for free. He did it for free and said the ECM needed to be reset, did that for free and advanced the timing again for me after he reset the ECM. Total price $0.

If its under warranty then the dealer will do it for free. It's part of the emissions and I believe the warranty is 60K on parts like the O2 sensor and 80K on the physical exhaust and cat and things like that.

Hey check your gas cap...an untightened cap could result in an SES light.

He said it was covered under the 80K warranty the code was malfunctioning cat, but he said the error was strictly electronic (AKA zap the ECM)
