Stopping HID theft...

I just picked up a 2k2 max and always hear horror stories of HID theft. Especially with parking next year at school I was wondering what you guys do or if anything can be done with stopping HID theft..Thanks in advance

Only way to stop HID theft is to watch your car 24 hours a day. Sad but true. They want them, they are going to get them no matter what.

U may just turn ur car into a 2K maxima(believe me its worth it)

Or

U can put JUST 2K headlights and keep the HID but then u may still be robbed. I had my car look like a 2k2 with normal lights and HID, they still broke in but did no body damage and stole my headlights.

So if u want I have an extra pair of 2k1 headlights

It depends on what part of the country you live in. I'm hearing NJ and NY are the worst for HID theft.

I live in a very good part, I mean a small town where everyone knows everyone and no crime really happens...but where I am going to school next year is more city-like so I am afraid my car will be sitting at a parking garage and I come out of class with missing headlights...I did some research and even though the car has an alarm I think I will have the compustar alarm installed with the pager and remote start, maybe if its more sensitive that will help? Also need to get the 3M clear bra installed as well

Just try to park it with the front of the car facing a wall. They need room in front of the car to remove them. That's what I do when in a parking garage.

TimW used to sell bolts for the HID assembly. There was something special about them that made them harder to get out. You might want to send him a PM to see if he has any more for sale. Or if he could tell you what they were so that you could try to get them some other way, if you were interested.

One thing to note... you can only stop HID theft by removing the HIDs. Other than that, you can try to DETER the theft with an alarm, with the anti-theft kit from Nissan (break-off bolts, etc)... and if you live in NY/NJ, get the AE headlights instead.

you're kidding right?! Investigate what? how they don't light the roadway? How hot they are? How they make the car unsafe?

petitions revolving around stolen HIDs and how Nissan should be held accountable have been tried, but the aftermentioned argument really DOES NOT hold water.

No flame intended, but just what exactly do you think NHTSA will do for you? Or Nissan for that matter?
