Great pictures and instruction!! I have a couple of questions.

1) In his post, ArcticMax mentioned something about an orange housing which he had to block out. Is there something you did or have that's different?

2) Since you removed the orange layer only, are the lights now recessed in the body?

Thanks in advance.

If you guys happen to scratch the lens alittle->

during the cutting/breaking part. You can buff with a buff using plastic compound. It will be good as new.

Kev, excellent post and pics

for some of us more "challenged" folk. I am looking forward to attempting this real soon.

Maybe the grey vs orange housing has to do with when the car was manufactured, or which plant in Japan it was made in. Tell me, when you put in your rear clears, what color was the red marker housing that you took out. I know my housing was red.

Thanks again for the great pics, and to arcticmax and black2kse for the initial push.

Thanks! I went to Nissan and bought new housing because I wanted to keep the stock ones around just in case the po-po's stop me. I know our housings are orange, but at some point in time, Nissan decided to make gray versions.

Yes, the lights are now flush against the body of the car. Since there are no other protruding parts, as opposed to the rear, they look clean.

Not if someone accidentally goes too far down and dig right into the clear piece. I wouldn't know how to fix that.

I don't remember what the rear clear housing color was... I also don't remember where I put them. Doh!!! They are probably red like yours.

IMHO, the rears will look weird because the area to the front sticks out. Since you're taking off the red lense, the new marker will be flush with the car except that one part.

My housing is gray because I bought them from Nissan.

30mins of back breaking work

Check out my WHAT IS A DREMEL post.

I cleared my other pair of front corners. I have the ones with grey background to my uncle. He paid $40 for them Besides, I like these better. I glued sketch paper to the backside of the reflector. That way it will look clear and white during the day. But when I turn on the lights, they are orange

Auto shifter? You'll need to take off the the shifter by unscrewing two screws, cut the OD wires, splice them to the new shifter's OD wires, and replace the shifter. These are basically the step you need to take.

Is the lense flush with the body after the install? Since the orange lense was "peeled" off, does the lense look smaller on the car now? I ask because I do not know how thick the plastic is.

Y2KSE, yours looked different than the original poster of the topic. Perhaps it was just the picture, but looking straight ahead of it there appeared to be a square part visible through the lense, but yours did not show this. Is this camera voo-doo on your part, or can you see a square opening about in the middle behind the lense?

I wonder why they would double lense them, especially in two different colors? Did they foresee a built in mod? :-)

I want to do mine, but it is supposed to rain the next couple of days, as it is now.

Mine turned out to be slightly smaller than with the orange lenses on. The orange lense wraps around and makes it bigger. Mine does have that middle box, but it only appears at some angles. Put your car in a garage and pry off the corner lights with a flathead screw driver. Just make sure to do it from behind ( meaning next to the fender side) the lights. Dry them off and do them It really isn't hard. My first one took me 45mins, but I did not break off the orange lense. I used a razor to cut around and managed to get them off without cracking them. The second, once I got used to it, took me 25 mins. I had my fathers help on some of it though, but you can get it done yourself.

Wow, so many questions... let me answer them.

Yes, the lens is flush against the car. I was surprised it was like this because I had the same thought as you. If you take off the orange part, wouldn't there be a depression? Since the orange lens bulges outwards, it gives space for the clear piece to fit.

No camera voodoo or Photoshop magic from me this time. The pics I took are what the results will be. Remember, ArcticMax used an orange housing marker while I used a gray housing marker. He had to paint the back of the housing because the orange was visible if he didn't.

I haven't seen the clears in the day time yet because I have to let the silicone sealer dry (24 hours).

I used super glue I noticed that in the first picture, his clear lense seem different. They look like they have small diamond shapes instead of having small squares. Must be the lighting.

Do the flush front clear corners reduce Cd. of drag?

He's using the same clear piece I'm using (right under the orange piece), so I assume they're both the same.

Of course it reduces drag! You'll hit 15.60 instead of 15.600000000000000000000000000001.

Hey, if it goes too far, you can fixe it with clear epoxy,a normally skilled person should be able to fixe it easily.

I just installed my rear clear corner, my first mod (little one ) but the big one are on the way.

Cheers

Ok, i'm a bit confused. I'm pretty sure i have the orange housings. From what i've been reading, i get the joy of painting my housings to chrome or some other blissful colour...correct so far? The above picture is one member's orange housings and the bottom one is of grey housings? Finally, why is the outer edge of the above housing black? Got enough questions? =) thanks in advanced.

Maybe the touch up paint with the small brush would be easier to paint?

paint to stay on

to get the paint to stay on first lightly sand (or use steel wool) and then prime. Then you could paint any color, maybe silver or gloss white would look good.
