To resonate or not

Just got done with an Injen intake and LOVE it!!! I've got an 03 SE and want to get a catback. I'm doing these mods in the stelth mode (wife doesn't know) so I don't want an exhaust thats to loud. Anybody with a catback without a resonater and what does it sound like? Which is better a 2.5 or 3.0 inch pipe. Thanks for all the help.

Get a b-pipe with a resonator and keep your stock muffler. The muffler does a great job of keeping the exhaust quiet, despite any other exhaust mods that you do to the car.

I got the cattman, when I had the stock muffler even with a y-pipe it was dead quiet. Its not expemsive and has a b-pipe. If your gonna install it yourself, I dont recommend you do it yourself. To match that with the stock rear section is a pain in the @ss, I did it but you need to grind/sand it and make it fit. A shop can do it no problem.

What kind of Performance increase would this and CAI give to a bone stock 2K GLE?

A resonator is a must, hollow type at least 18" is the best. Then later down the line if you want to do the muffler it still wont be much louder. 3" without a good bit boost won’t help and may even hurt.

Well with our luck not that much. Here is the raw truth, the auto 5th gen is the slowest max just ahead of the 3rd gen autos. The thing is they weigh more and all, not to mention the tranny shifts slow. Most gle's run mid 16's in the 1/4 After most all the bolt ons I got on mind from the intake, advanced timing, to the whole exhaust, better tires and shifting a bit faster my best effort is a 15.4 at 90mph which isnt too bad. It moves but its nothing serious, more of a cruiser then anything to be honest. The CAI and the bipe will honestly give you at the very most a 10hp gain.

No yours isnt slow, its got decent ***** 15.1 aint bad at all for an auto. Considering the slightly quicker shifting you sould be able to hit high 14s not in two months but in 4-5 for sure. If you had timing advance and a UDP ill even dare say 14.7-14.8 at 94mph (remember I called that # ) I dont have a test pipe but since my last time at the track I got the shifting trick and timing advacne done. Im expecting no better then 15.3

...this is the 3rd time im trying to reply to this...every time im almost done a damn pop up comes along, I ALT+F4 the stupid thing and if creates and Error and closes all the open windows I hate these stupid popups Ok back to the subject...

Your car IS ballsy, you have the VQ35 motor. Steve and myself have the 3.0 and we would be lucky to match the 3.5's power stock with all the bolt-ons we have. Steves is pretty close but still not there yet. At the track considering the mods you have, Im pretty sure you will pull atleast a 14.7 run if not .1-.2 quicker considering the sticker tires then the stock potenzas.
With slicks your car is more then capable of mid-high 13's (even w/o the VB) but I dont know if you can drive the car to that #. The first few runs with the street tires will be just for feel til you get how to lauch the car.

The headers should give apprx 25whp gain which will definetly be felt, the 6spd will gain 30-35 at the wheels due to less loss of power through the drivetrain. More would be seen if the fuel system is upgaded, the prototype headers that were dyno'd on an altima made the motor run lean. An FMU upgrade will counter this and give a few more horses at the wheels.

The timing advance I got done at the last SWA All Nissan meet a few months ago. Some guy with a consult-II was there, I talked to him for a few min then asked him to hook it up and bump my timing. I have scanners ect.. but nissan wont sell me their programming equipment, I have no clue how he got it but I wasnt about to ask. It takes less then 1min to do, they can do it at the dealership but how willing they are to do it If you cant get it advanced at the next SWA meet or cant make it, ill talk to a friend of mine there and he can get one of the techs to do it. Let me know if you want me to talk to him btw this is over at Midway Nissan on 23rd ave and & Bell SE corner (one block east of the I-17)

The gain in power honestly isnt all that astonishing. It just feels like it pulls with less effort from the pedal. The thing is with the VQ35 motor it has variable valve timing (you know that boost at 4K rpms ) The Ecu will only allow the timing advance to hold to a certain degree. At apprx 3000rpms the ECU will pull the timing back to were to should be (14BTDC) rather then 17BTDC. The only gain you will see is maybe slightly better 60ft times but thats about it since the rest of the time you will be over 4K.

Im sure this explains more then enough but if I left anything out, im just tired and need some sleep.
Sorry for the long reply.
