cato, think you gotta put it up on a website first, can't just attach images off your hard drive.

Hahahaha, sick.
There's still a few I need to touch, and I think I got barely enough wire to do it.

anyone experienced any burnt smell after grounding their car? Mine started smelling a little like the wires were being burnt. is this normal and will just go away once the wires get used to the heat or am I doin something wrong? i have 2 wires going from the engine to the chassis of hte car. then i have a wire going from the negative battery terminal to the right side of hte engine to the left side of hte engine then to the body of the car. I assumed this setup is ok. I think its just the wires getting too hot but I am not sure. I am using 4 guage wires that I bought from EPO. Please let me know what to do

I think the wire's insulation is getting burned by the engine. I would say make sure zip tie every ground wire to the rail or something where it will not touch the engine. No, the wire will not get used to the heat. Just make sure keep them from coming in contact with the engine and any moving parts.

It will not harm anything other than the insulation.

yeah, mine are well routed so they're not directly touching the engine, and they're designed for engine bays anyway (PhoenixGold ground wire)

Alright, time to wake this thread up again. I disconnected mine last Sept. for some reason I cannot recall, but this past weekend I reinstalled the hyperground wires (mainly the battery->engine, engine->fusebox ground and engine->alternator ground).
I swear to god it has made a difference... drives a little "smoother" (car doesn't jerk as much when shifting, doesn't stall as easily when taking off at <1000RPM)

I did 5 points on my automatic. I definitely noticed better starting. But as to idle, no change what so ever. I know this because before and after I did the grounding at idle when engine is at its operating temperature the rpm needle moves slightly up and down. I'll try to post some pics later today.

Mine's stick, and my idle is already perfect (no "hunting"), so I never had any noticeable issues to correct... but after reconnecting the alternator/fusebox/engine ground to the battery ground *something* changed. It just feels less likely to jerk when taking off in 1st gear from a stop...

GordGee on g35driver.com has a dyno before and after of the G35 Hypergrounded. The G35 gets 6 HP and 10 ftlbs TQ! So you get smoother
running automobile with more HP and TQ

I have seen this mod work on a 1.8t jetta. It made 6 HP more on the dyno which might be attributed to the alternator running easier and an increase in voltage on all of the electrical components in the vehicle. For large stereo installs, I have been beefing up the ground on vehicles for years (especially the ground from the battery to the frame and the frame to the alternator case). This would net up to 0.5V increase in peak alternator output and in some cases eliminate engine noise. Most vehicle manufacturers use anemic poor quality wire with low strand count and poor insulation that allows the wire to corrode. I'm a believer!

I've also noticed a slightly higher MAF reading at warm idle than before... (2.50g/s vs. 2.30g/s before)

The symptoms I've experienced do remind me when I reset my ECU during the initial hyperground wire install, where the engine was running more rich until it adjusted itself... so for all I know, this "smoothness" may adjust itself out. My last tank of gas was also 23.7mpg, a little lower than my typical 24-26mpg (typical).
Either way, it shouldn't hurt to keep this setup indefinitely. I might want to find higher quality lugs for the ends (i.e. pure copper) and redo the ends sometime.
