After Reading Posts on Rotors, Still Confused
I have read numerous posts concerning aftermarket rotors. There doens't seem to be a clear cut answer. After reading several posts I still have some questions. Hopefully, some of you experts out there can help me make my decision.
To make a long story short, I've already had the factory rotors turned once and within 1500 miles they were warped again. I am looking to buy aftermarket rotors.
I think I have settled on either Brembo Blanks or Powerslots. First Question - I don't really understand the difference between the 2 other than the Powerslots are more performance oriented than the Blanks. I am looking for just good rotors that will not warp as easily as the stock, so help with overall info please. I guess I wouldn't have a problem with just Blanks if they are a sound choice.
Second question - Where is the best place online to buy either the blanks or the Powerslot? Someone posted a link a couple of months ago, but I can't seem to find the post again. I have found several sites with the Powerslots that did not have a listing for 2K+ Max.
Third question - I know several people are using Hawk pads with the Brembo's, will OEM pads work fine too?
Any info that you feel might be helpful that I have not asked for is appreciated too.
Thanks for all the help in advance.

Other questions I've been having on same topic....
will putting aftermarket rotors void the warranty on the brakes?
Why are buying replacement rotors from Bembro or another company (non slotted or cross drilled) fix the warping problem?

Check out NOPI. http://www.nopionline.com/index.cfm?...0Disc&vaffid=0
A competitive price for the Brembo Blanks.
I do not know if it will fix the warping but the Brembo rotors @$48 cannot be worse than OEM at $80 a piece.
As for the Powerslots, they can be found at brakewarehouse.net, tirerack.com. For the Brembo Crossdrilled and PBR MetalMaster brakepads, Southwest Autoworks as well.
As for pads, also take a look at PBR MetalMasters. If you go with slotted, get the Hawk or PBRs. OEM would work well with the Brembo blanks.
I am not sure about the warranty but I believe it would fall into the 3 year/36,000 mile bumper to bumper category.
ChrisK327, I would run the car to 30,000 miles or when the oem pads wear out and go to aftermarket performance rotors/pads

Thanks greatly for the info. Like you said the Blanks are $48 each vs. the Power Slot's for $105 each. I really don't want to skimp on rotors since they provide such an important function. Are the Blanks actually good rotors?
Maybe this will help clear up the confusion; Brembos are a BRAND of rotor manufactured in Italy. They are the exact same size and thickness as original equipment, just made of a different (better!) alloy of steel. Brembo also heat treats their rotors to be more resistant to warpage when they are heated, thus more resistant to the dreaded "shudder" when stopping as is common with Nissan's and quite frankly most OE rotors. Brembos are often used by OEMs for high performance vehicles (Porche, among others) to provide higher performance brakes (Nissan's 350Z has a Brembo option, for example!).
By "blanks", all this means is that they are free of cross-drilling or slotting, which is what the other more expensive brake rotors have all been treated with. Some will argue here that cross drilling or slotting gives you better cooling, but under street use only, this advantage is marginal at best. In fact, since some of the metal has been removed, as an engineer I might argue that drilled or slotted brakes are MORE subject to warping since some of the heat sink (metal) has been removed as well as some of the structural integtrity of the disk. If the rotors are drilled or slotted incorrectly you can even have cracked rotors that can be a safety hazard, admittibly a rare occurance but still a possibility. For me I don't like the "whirring" noise that both cross-drilled or slotted rotors have, sometimes you can still feel a slight "pulsing" through the pedal under light braking with cross-drilled.
The upshot of it is if you are using the car for street use only, stick with the Brembo rotors, undrilled or slotted (ie, "blank"), you will be very happy with this setup. You can use the OE pads if you like, but most manufacturers suggest replacing them as a a unit and since you have ready access to the pads when replacing the rotors, just install new pads at that time. New rotors deserve new pads! I like the Axxis metalmasters myself, you should be able to get a combo price for rotors and pads since shipping weight of pads in nothing compared to the rotors. I believe I got my Brembos blanks from Nokie at $48 each too; PM me if you want further info...
Enjoy the ride!!

I'm getting ready to get a set from www.frozenrotors.com. They cryogenically treat the rotor, changing the crystaline structure of the steel. Yes, they're more expensive, but they are stronger and will last longer. I will be getting them slotted. From what I have learned, a slotted rotor will constantly be "sweeping" the pad, keeping it flat, and keeping grooves out of the rotor due to inconsistencies in the wear of the pad. Here is a breakdown of what it will cost:
Rotors: $112.70 each
Slotted: $45.00 each
Pads: $61.95 set
Shipping:$20.00 ($10/rotor)
I won't be getting pads as I have an alternate source, so I will be paying $335.40 for everything. I'm really looking forward to getting them on. It will be a HUGE improvment.

Thanks for the info. I think I will be ordering the Brembo Blanks from Nopi shortly. I am definitely going to replace the pads as well - want to start fresh - but will probably just buy stock OEM pads from nissan-accessories.com for $35. However, I will check out the pads Nopi has too. It never hurts to look.
Thanks.

Thanks.
