Lurch while braking - Have this problem?

Greetings,

Do you guys have this problem, when slowing down from 50+ to make a turn, around 20mph the car surges forward? This is with steady brake pressure and it almost feels like a loss of hydaulics, but obviously it is not. When looking at the RPM's the car goes down to about 600 rpm and then back to 1000rpm at the time of the lurch.

It's a 2002 SE Auto and it almost seems like there is some type of electronic control that is not timed right. The car is about 2 years old and this just started happening at 20K miles.

Any suggestions or previous experience?

Michael

I hear ya man. I also have an 02 SE and just a little over 15K and about five weeks ago I took it to have an air sensor that goes in the catalitic converter I think and since then I notice that maybe once a day when I brake the car lurches forward not hard but enough that catches me off guard, I haven't look at the control panel but now that you mention that I look at it next time. Well lets see what other peolple have to say on this issue.

i think it has to do something with the tranny.

when you slow down, it suppose to change gears. at 25mph its suppose to downshift to 2nd so if there is a lag there, the car lurches foward because its in netural.

you can check this by driving 50mph lets say, and stop normally, look at the rpm how it goes up and down at the lower speeds because of the gear changing

I'm having this problem too and found this thread while trying to search for a solution. It's like the car's not rev matching when it downshifts so you get that lurching forward. Has anyone else had this problem? More importantly, does anyone know how to fix this problem?

Nevermind, I found another thread that talks about this problem but has many more replies.
