bleh...C&D

They're the same ones that said a 6spd 02 Maxima was not any quicker than a TL-S auto.

They are heavily Honda/BMW biased, and NO, a 330Ci is not quite able to run with a CL-S 6spd/G35/Max6spd unless it has some Dinan software and a few mods. C&D (owned by BMW, BTW ) has tested BMWs in its mag before with *VERY* good times and has only admitted after the fact in reader feedback sections that the cars were running with like Stage 2 dinan software.

You never know what you're reading or how realistic something is when it's mags.

That is pretty sad. TL-S auto... what ~6.7??? not even close.

I'll concede and take your word on this one. Personally, I thought the 330Ci times were "impressive" in their reviews. I suppose if I ever go the Bimmer route, all the more reason to get the M3. The maxima gives a lot of car for the money. It would be tough to drop all the extra cash on a different car and not have it perform any better than my sub $30k max. Too much of a driving enthusiast at heart I guess.

ah, a fellow "rational". After my 2001 Accord V6 was totalled, here is how I saw things...

- 2002 Acura TL-S: 0-60 in high-6 range, $32k new, exploding auto tranny.
- 97-99 Maxima 5spd: 0-60 in high-6 range, $15k low mileage, good manny tranny.

Woulda got an 02 6spd, but I don't have enough knee room in the 5th Gens and sadly couldn't consider one. The rest is history.

If you don't mind me asking... how big of a guy are you? At 6'5" I'm sometimes limited in what cars I can look at. Head room is often a problem. I had wanted a Honda Prelude(the last generation) and almost purchased one for my first car out of school, but it was just a bit too small. I've been a bit anxious to drive the new RX-8, but sadly, I think that car is too small. After sitting in it I quickly realized not enough head room, and my knees felt wrapped around the steering wheel. The 5th gen max is quite roomy, IMHO, and is a good cross between performance and sensibility all at a fair price. Although not a married man and no kids to haul around, I still had to pass on the 350z just because sometimes you want to take more than just the girl out, or haul more than a bag of golf clubs.

I wouldn't compare the TL to the Max, it would have to go against the G35 sedan.

270HP but only 232 lb/ft of torque. Remember the torque numbers are very important. The Max should be able to keep up.

How tall are you? I'm 6'7" and knee room hasn't been an issue for me with the max. When I purchased I narrowed it down to a 325i and the Max. The 325i looks small from the outside, but omg I have SO much room in that car (prolly b/c the back seat is so tiny, not that it would matter, im single/no kids). The max has slightly less headroom, but my god I got so much more car for the same price. The 325 felt SO SLOW. My next car will prolly be a used 5 Series. Those can be had for around $30K.
