Frankencar question/problem...
I installed my frankencar a while back, and since day 1 have had a rattle when I first crank, or when in the 1-2000RPM Range. I know what it is, but haven't had time to try to fix it. The filter is hitting a piece in the engine bay. I can pull the whole intake back a bit and it has enough clearance and no rattle. But when I let it go, back to the start. I had some free time tonight and tried to mess with the bracket that holds it tight, but you can't really move it anywhere to give it more clearance. Just wondering if someone has done something to fix this. The noise doesn't really bother me all that much, it's just that the rattling may affect the MAF in the near future. Thanks guys, later!

I tried that, but the damn thing keeps pushing itself back out to where it is.. hehe..
But the pic shows of what its hitting.. Right there by the filter, below that screw is something, I don't know what it is, I've thought of relocating that piece, but havent had enough time to really look into it.

Try to turn the MAF housing so the bolts are are at a right angle to the ground. It doesn't matter if the sensor points right, left or up. If you need to bend the bracket some then do it. When you do this have all the clamps slightly loose and retighten when you get it where you want it. Also if it keeps sliding back down try putting a lock nut on the bracket bolt where it comes out the back side of the MAF adapter.

Turn your bracket around.
You'll notice that the twist is towards the car-side of the bracket in that picture... I believe if you flip it around so that the twist is on the end with the MAF it should hold it up and away from the colum a bit more.
But of course, if you're as lucky as I am, the damn thing will just break in a couple months. I put mine in back in May and it snapped the other day. I picked up a piece of metal to try and build a new one... I'm just not sure how easy it's going to be to twist the thing.
Oh, and see that skinny metal tube that's behind the right-hand side of the filter in your picture (I think it's the AC line) - I'd recommend zip-tying the couple bunches of wires that are under the filter to that thing, it'll keep them from being rubbed by the filter.

Frank, now that I look at it again you are right the bracket is on backwards. He still needs to get it so it sits higher. I believe with what I told him and fliping the bracket he'll be fine.

It's hitting the aluminum pipe visible just below the mounting bracket in your picture. Mine did the same thing. You want to wrap some insullation around that pipe at the contact point for two reasons: prevent the rattle; and prevent wear thru of that pipe (previous post about 4 - 6 weeks back).
