Help on Intake/exhaust!

What's a good Intake, or should I go with the CAI? What exhaust can I get with out putting a permanent hole in my wallet and can still give me a deep growl? I can't stand that winen noise those Hondas have. If I want something to wine I'd get married.

Actually i heard a little video clip of how the Magnaflow muffler is on a Maxima and I want mine to sound just like that. Anybody know of some places in the Chicagoland area to get that purchased and installed? Even some reliable websites would be cool too!

Check out www.firmfabrications.com. Great intake. No need for a MAF adapter, as it's built into the intake. Great sound. Exhaust is gonna be expensive no matter how you slice it.

Get a custom catback from any muffler shop for less than $100. Add on a muffler for another $100 and you are in business.

Does that intake also work with 2k1 Max engines too?

Oh, my bad. No, I don't think it does. At least that's what the site says...2K2-up. Check out the Frank then. CAI's for the Max really aren't all they're cracked up to be, at least IMHO. All the ones I've seen aren't really even TRUE CAI's (Injen, etc).

Stillen Intake.

Look for used Exhaust system on this board. I personally hate really loud exhaust noise. I got cat-back Greddy and it's quiet compared to exhaust noise from civics.

the only true CAI that i know are the place racing and cattman, which are pretty much the same thing. id stick with place racing since the last one i saw came with a k&n instead of the monsterflow that cattman uses.

http://www.xpert-networking.com/muff...ps/muffler.htm. This link has different video's of exhuast/ intake combo's. With the amount of snow/salt on the roads you probably get in Chicago I would pay alittle more for a stainless cat-back. Either Cattman or Frankencar's new one.

So U saying that Magnaflow exhaust would eventually get eatin up by the salt & snow? I was checking out the Cattman exhaust...whatz the deal with this Y-pipe I've been hearing about?

So... What was the final verdict? I too am on the fence, as to which intake to purchase. I appreciate any solid advice regarding newbie installation, performance satisfaction, esthetics, etc. Thanks.

Yes the salt and moisture from heavy rain and snow will do a number on anything that isn't stainless. I don't get nearly the amount of precip that you get and had to heat my stock exhaust bolts to get them out. I like my cattman system, it doesn't show any signs of rust(1.5yrs old) and sounds a lot better then stock. Stainless will eventually rust as well but takes much longer to do so. In terms of intake, either an injen or frankencar are my recommedations. I have an injen but are planning to get a frankencar for the wet months. I don't have a y-pipe but it seems to give most gains for $. Intakes are very easy to put in as long as you have a smidge of mechanical ability. Sorry for the long $.02.

Check group deal thread in group deal forum for frankencar intake. We could use a few more people.

Good price here for some good sound. I purchased from these people and they were excellent on every front. I even got my product 1 day early

From what it seems on the org all MAF's aren't created equal. Unless you already have a faulty MAF I'm pretty positive you shouldn't have any issues. I know there is a TSB in regards to MAF failure for 00-01 and pretty sure there is one for the 02+. So if you do have a prob return to stock and see your dealer.

I once had this intake and recently bought the INJEN CAI (will install it this coming weekend). A suggestion here: Have you tried installing the Firmfabrication intake w/the stock resonator in place? The resonator will helps quiet down the intake noise and also metering the engine's idle speed. Plus, the extra length from the resonator will acts like midpipe, which will probably make it sounds much better?
