a muffler is probably on good for 1-3hp but jjames is right saying to wait on replacing the y on 2k2 or 2k3. replacing the b pipe will yield a few horsepower but i would wait til more comes out on the headers from different companies since they will include the y pipe.

The stock muffler does a great job of killing the sound while maximizing performance. The only thing worth changing out on 2k2+ maximas would be the headers and the muffler.

Don't you mean headers and b-pipe. The max muffler is pretty free flowing already. The b-pipe has a few crimps that make is restrictive.

Im still convinced the y pipe adds power throughout the rpm range just not too much peak. Can't wait for headers from hotshot though

Headers are about the only thing I want to add to Max now... other than NOS of course. But I've heard that the y-pipe gains nothing on 2k2/3's. Muffler is minimal to nothing as well.
