For some reason, I find my stupidity funny

Well, Ive been having a problem haunting me for about 4 months now and I decided to take my car to nissan. They tell me that my plugs were changed and its not covered under warranty. I pay them 130..whatever..

I bought OEM plugs at 13 dollars each and got to work today and this is what I realized when I should have realized 4 months ago when I was told to put these in. I was too excited about my NX kit and didnt even bother overlooking this.

I just think its funny...

Yep, the longer plug is OEM for a the VQ35, I got these directly from nissan parts and got ripped in the azz for them...

Maybe the VQ30 is different

Lol! Yeah I found that out to when I went and bought the spark plugs you suggested, Killer. Then I went and found the right size, which is a special order. And Killer is right, the long **** is the stock one. Trust me I've changed the damn things, so I know from personal experience.

yes the 2k-2k1 has a different part number, Im going to take a guess that the difference is the length of the threads for the 2k2-2k3 and 2k-2k1.

This explains why the plug is longer:

IMPROVEMENT OF WATER FLOW BY LONG REACH SPARK PLUG – Cooling performance of the VQ35DE has been improved by expanding the water jacket around the spark plug as a result of increasing the spark plug screw length. Consequently, knock resistance has been improved. . . . {The graph shows the expanded water jacket results in improvement in ignition timing advance over the base water jacket design across the range from 1.5K to 6.5K rpm with the largest improvements of between about 2 to 4 degrees additional ignition timing advance between about 2K and 4.5K rpm and again from about 6K to 6.5K rpm.}

I found it in this thread.
