A while ago I saw few folks here had their springs chopped. It looked pretty damn nice. Now that a some time has passed I wanted to see how has the setup been working for you. Do you still like it, or do you regret getting the springs cut? I have a set of eibachs on my car and after having seen a couple of pics of those things chopped, I'm tempted. Or should I just yank out the eibach springs and go with Tein?

Ride is really rough though...but it looks so nice!

I'm thinking about going with coil-overs though.

 

It's perfect with KYB GR2s. Stock struts were a bit rough. If I had to do it all over again, I would go with the same setup.

Teins drop too low for me.

 

I don't recommend it.

It's not. It is about 1/2" higher than Teins.

 

Chopping springs is ghetto-fab. Just get coilovers or Teins

I cut 3/4 of a coil off my front eibach's. As far as I'm concerned it's perfectly safe because the spring levels itself flat at the top where it sits in the dish, so cutting some off shouldn't affect the way the spring sits. And it made it easier to install with the cut spring.

Again, ask HitMan SE, who knows A TON about suspension and actually installed mine. Also, intelligently rebut 00SEinMA's earlier response about this subject. I have not seen one educated response about this yet other than "don't do it".

Now, if you were to chop Maxspeeds, it is a different story. The do NOT fit in the perch and ARE dangerous.

Teins do look good, hacking springs looks good but not good, defeats the purpose of the spring.

Cutting spring changes the characteristics of the spring and how it was designed.:

Not trying to sound like a broken record but you do talk a little too much about Teins, they are nice but they aren't the end all and be all of maxima springs. JICs own Teins
