Wow, That seems like a lot of work just to hard wire your radar detector.
I have a 2002 max and I have had mine hard wired for over a year and a half. It is very easy to just remove the courtesy light/ sunglass fixture, take a hot lead from the hot side of the light switch and the other to ground and run them to your radar detector and re-install the assembly. The radar detector will no turn off when you turn off your car but it will turn off aprox 10 to 20 minutes after you close the last door. It draws so little power it would not make any difference if it was on all the time anyway. I hooked mine up this way the second day I had the car and it has worked fine ever since.
