impressions of adding budget b pipe

Just received my budget b this morning and right away flew to meineke to install it- here's a little data for those who have any interest

* it came out to ~ $190 U.S currency
* Only the resonator was Stainless steel- the other pipe was non polished SS
* They sent locktite nuts/bolts, and washers
* meineke charged me $60 for the install - took ~ 20 min

* my car is less than a year old yet the old piping /resonator had
much rusting goin on and the seams in the resonator looked as if it was ready to pop

----------------------------------------------

I was hoping for a night and day difference in sound yet its slightly
deeper than stock ( can still hear the intake over the exhaust) due
to the large resonator

The butt dyno likes this new set up as I noticed more response in the lower RPM's than before ( after installing the intake some was lost I felt, now it seems as if something was freed up) perhaps a few ponies - nothing
excessively noticeable- but noticeable nevertheless-

I'm still thirsty for more sound( so i'll have myself a beer 4 now) but I'm
considering the HKS- or better yet Stillen Header/Down pipe combo
with same set up - have to hear it first though- holla!

i thought y-pipe, b-pipe + muffler on an 02+ only got like 6-7WHP? I heard the y-pipe gave almost no power. plan on doing a dyno?

i wouldnt dyno it knowing that between the bpipe and the franken maybe i only have at the most a
~5-10hp
Maybe after UD pulley install i'll pay for a dyno

Or i'd like to get the header/downpipe combo only
if its street legal and the sound isnt too severe
that it would take away the comfort of commuting
in the car every day

y pipes dont do jack - but headers on the otherhand havent even come out yet- Sowhere did u hear that?

They will pump out at least 20 hp(all cars gets positive increases from headers)

Anyway the headers will be coming out with a downpipe(replacing the y)
straight to the cat- and since that downpipe is comin straight from the headers they'll have larger flow than a y pipe from the stock exhaust heads/manifold

oh by the way u dont get more hp out of an aftermarket muffler- all the hp ( maybe 5-6 hp if that) comes from the b pipe

Are you sure its aluminized steel? I haven't seen anything but SS at Budget. They stopped making aluminized stuff a couple of years ago. Try a magnet on it, should stick to the alulminized steel.

unless it has a ****ty SS finish- the resonator looked
great but the other pipe was dull in appearance- so
i assumed its aluminized

Don't assume, SS looks dull in its natural state and the resonator is polished. Try a magnet and you will see it won't stick and that means its SS.

That is T-304 SS pipe mandrel bent. I have spent quite a bit of time at Budget and they do not make aluminized stuff.

great than stainless steel it is! makes me feel like i got my money's worth-

Here's my second opinion:

Anyhow- I drove to the bank tonite to get some dough and as i waited for the money from the ATM
It dawned to me that it was dead quiet out-
so I revved the engine a little-
man the sound is so nice ( it has a bimmerish sound to it) And so I rolled down the windows/ turned down the system and pulled
out (mighty dark/quiet on Rt 202 by my house at this time) and gave this byatch some throttle and man I'm very pleased- I will keep the stock muffler after all
Like I said before the gain is definitly noticeable-
and I felt it tonite as the climb to WOT went faster-

Those of you who have 6speed's and installed the franken only know that w/just the intake ridding out of any gear @ 2000 to 3500 rpm is more sluggish than w/ stock airbox- now the car feels
slightly more powerful all over- prob due to that the extra air passin through has less restriction-

Thanks for the review - I was going back and forth with this mod before and you've helped me to decide. Budget w/ resonator it is...

Just to clarify, the budget is a completely bolt on affair and comes with all the necessary mounting bolts, nuts and brackets? How big was the piping and dwas it mandrel bent? How big was the resonator? Any comparison to Warp Speed?

TIA

yes- bolt on
yes- nescessary installation hardware
2.5" piping
yes- mandrel bent
warpspeed= aluminized(rust)
budget = SS(longer life)

For $20 more I got an SS unit compared to the Warpspeed
