I am also assuming that Bose does 2 ohms to that they can place a tweeter and a mid in series and get a 4 ohm load. (resistors add when in series).
I'm not an audio guy so I could be off on a couple of these comments.

On a bose system, speakers in the doors and the sub in the back is 2 ohm. The tweeters are 4 ohm
As far as "what's better", I'm not sure... I think the resistance (or impedance, actually, which is resistance produced by different methods like inductive/capacitive reactance) has more to do with the magnet/driver. Maybe some research (try google) could reveal how lower impedance vs. higher impedance speaker drivers compare.
