Blown MAF, chalk another one up...

Last night I was "aggressively accelerating" and all of a sudden my Max was huffin' and puffin', and the "check engine" light came on. I knew right away by the discriptions in previous threads, it was the MAF.

Brought my ride to Baker-Jackson in Houston. They're gonna replace it under warranty, given that they're taking my K&N out and replacing w/ OEM. He said if I use the K&N again, it won't be covered the next time.

Cool w/ me...

I hope I don't notice a difference going bk to OEM. (I know it's only a drop-in.)

Peace!

Was he impling that your K&N filter was the reason your MAF died??

Clearly, Yes. He said that the oil from the K&N got on the sensor. He also said that he doesn't have to cover it on warranty since it was caused by an non-OEM part. He said if I keep the K&N in there, he won't cover next time.

Nonetheless, I'm going back to OEM. Jus not worth the trouble...

i agree that it is b/c of the k&n. My MAF blew b/c of oil coming back in from the crank case. oil is what blows alot of MAF. I have heard of a lot of people who oil there k&n to much and blow there MAF sensor so for some kind of conclusion.....k&n sucks for our cars
