Oxygen Sensors

I have a 00 max se w/45,500 miles with extended warranty to 100,000.

so here is my question I had SES come on last week and got a code of P0171 which means is running lean in bank 1. So does anyone know if that is covered on that warranty and if not would it be better to replace it with and OEM sensor or something like bosch sensor?

thanks

I had the same problem I got the new sensor from Nissan for 70.00$. Bank 1 is the sensor at the back of the motor.

They must have charged you only for labor. Because this sensor costs $115.

No I paid 73.00$ with tax for the sensor from the dealer. There was no labor because I put it in. Lucky I had a Y-pipe because that made it alot easier to get to the sensors.

any decent mechanic will have an ODD-2 reader. you can also go to autozone and they will do it for free. your other option is purchase a handheld unit or software and cables for your laptop so you can run it yourself. i got mine from here

You mentioned you have an extended warranty to 100k, so of course the O2 sensors are covered. I had to have a couple replaced at 12k, and again at around 28k. The dealer said they tend to to kaput easier in hot climates, which sounds like complete BS to me (I live in Florida).

Both times the car ran fine, and just had the SES light come on.

Guess what? For Maxima's 2000 this period is already nearly 4-year long.

Well just as an update its not the O2 sensor after talked to Dave B. and he relaying the msg to his techs he found out that its the MAF sensor so it sould be here today.

After doing some research here on the fourm looks like thats for sure the problem.

power loss after 3000 rpm
unreal fuel consumption
hesitation when you get on it

I will let you know how everything goes
