Flithy window
Flithy window
Yesterday, I took my door panel off to lube my power window guide since it was making a squealing noise. What I discover that my window below the edging is FLITHY with crud on it. I rolled down to the bottom where you can remove the bolts that holds the bracket on the window in place. I pulled the window out carefully and went in the house to clean it in the kitchen sink. I ran it with hot water and clean with lemon dish soap, to scrub the crap out of it. It came out squeaky clean and what's surprises me is the glass actually green. It looks clear in the sun light but under the kitchen light it green tint. As soon as I clean the front window, I bolted back in, it looks invisible and couldn't tell if the glass were there. I almost forgotten that it's not rolled down. You should check your window next time you open the door panel to see what kind of crud its collecting on the bottom of the glass.

I have madico cool chrome tint on my windows and usually it reflects the color of the interior of the car. I have frost interior so i was expecting it to be a silverish tint, but once the job was done, the windows had a greenish look to it. Turns out the stock windows have like a 98% film on there already so that's what reflected on the windows. Here are a couple of pix to give you an idea.....

Nah, I don't do that. But when the winter comes around, I certainly want to have clean rims and caps too.

For the guides, I use white lithium grease that you can get it at Checker's. It for meteal to metal lubricant that it will not wash off, melt or freeze. It comes with the straw thingy that you stick it on the spray cap so you can spray where you want to aim at. The same stuff i use for my moonroof guide.
