Got my 04 Max last night and it is some awesome car...What i am looking for is factual information on intakes....I am looking for your input on the best WAI on the market, don't want a bottom feeder....I am looking for dyno results, or track times before and after...I thought you guys would know, there isnt much available for the 04 yet Thanks

Go to the 6th Gen forum and ask that question. But, I can tell you that there all pretty much the same. Also welcome to the org.

It seems like Injen CAI is the premier intake for the VQ35DE Maximas.

injen is best lookin, but doesnt deliver up top like the frankencar WAI-
Probably because its not a true CAI - the long tube
might be too long for warm air to travel

I have ana Injen and I'd call it a hybrid CAI, when your sitting still your pulling warm air in from the engine but when moving the filter is low enough so the cool air is being pulled in from the front of the car. My .02.

That is so wrong. Popularity does not equal best.

Actually, on a dyno the WAI performs better, the hood is open and there is a fan there. Heat soaking isnt really a problem. Take the same WAI and put it in traffic. Heat soak will kill the low end TQ. The injen doesnt get affected by this. Also, if you use header tape on the injen, it makes even more power (but makes it kinda ugly). Ive had both, and the Injen is alot more consistent. I must admit though, you are right about the top end. That is pure physics. Take a long straw and suck air thru it. Then, cut 3/4 of that straw off and suck air again. The shorter one is easier when you really pull hard. Thats why the top end is better in those. The problem occurs more on autotragics than manuals too, being that we lose more power and TQ to the wheels.

Where can you get header tape?
I assume header tape works by reducing the temp absorption...

I have the injen on my Max, and I do like the sound and that fact that it frees up the engine better than stock. I think both the injen and frankencar have their advantages, all depends what you're looking for.
Since I have an auto...I thought the injen would be better.

Do they make a bypass for the Injen? How much does it cost? Any links? Don't want to have to worry about sucking up water. When it rains hard in Houston you can get around 1 foot of water on some roads.

no, apparently Adventon isn't an "authorized dealer" and they only match authorized dealer prices. So yeah, Adventon IS the cheapest.

Call them and inquire. Assuming that they wont will never yield you the absolute answer to that question.

If you think it rains hard in houston, come visit miami. Within 10 minutes it can be both sunny and hurricane rainy. Ive seen 2" come down in an hour. Anyways, the injen hasnt sucked up water yet, and you dont need a bypass valve. You would have to submerge the filter about 85% of the way and be at more than 50% throttle to even think about getting water in it. If you have to go thru a puddle, IDLE thru. Ive had mine on for 30000+ and 0 issues with water.

Exhaust

I am a newbe to all of this mod stuff. Please dont laugh at my lame question. Are there any exhaust systems cat back that do not require welding? Also are there any exhaust systems that aren't totally difficult to install? :
