Question about intake and rain

I was told that here in alabama you should not run an intake because of the rain. Is the rain going to be that threating? <<or however you spell it.

Rain is not the issue, the issue is driving through standing water. Generally it's only a problem for cai's that have their opening close to the ground in front of the wheel well. I don' think the cai's for maximas reach down close to the ground like some others do.

According to AEM website the problem exists when the filter is submerged in water. Then the hydrolocking is caused.I had a bypass valve on but took it off because from the info i read i don't think i need one.

i have a custom CAI that is intake from the underneath of the car and then up to airbox...not likely water is going to make it up all that way. and no dirt is going to make it past the air filter...so nothing to really worry about.

I have a question similar to this...Is it dangerous to spray down the engine compartment if you have a WAI with a cone filter? Will there be enough water contact on the filter to cause any harm?
