Hey everyone,

I just purchased a "like-new" Y2K Maxima SE Super Black/Gray Cloth (Onyx Maximus) today, 17" six-spoke alloys, 5 spd. manual, Bose Audio. I saw it at the dealer yesterday. The car only has 10,100 miles on it. I got a great deal on it.

Upgrade from a '93 Civic coupe, 181,000 miles. Talk about hard to say goodbye!

Just a couple of questions:

Whenever I 'tilt' the sunfroof I get a lot of wind noise. Is it the wind deflector that's causing this?

Any recommendations on where I can pick up the CD changer for the Bose audio system? Cost? Installation info?

How much does the carbon fiber kit go for?

What is everyone's overall opinion of the Bose system?

Any information is appreciated. Thanks

Heres the pic guys

The Bose is awesome!!! The only rip on the Bose is that the rear subwoofer rattles something in the back at full blast. But lately I havent heard the rattle.

congrats ...

sunroof: prob cuz u have it on tilt ... it creates some turbulance ... is that the right word? so u'll of course get some noise ...

CD changer ... 2 companies make it ... bose & USA SPEC (not sure about the name) ... do a search .. there's been a lot of talk on this one on this board & others ... best bet is courtesy nissan ... cost I think is $300 & some install kit ...

carbon fiber ... no idea ... I think it loox chintz .. but that's my opinion

bose system .. it works 4 me ... i dunno what u have but i gotz the 200 watt system ... don't need no more ...

congrats on a grand car!

Sorry, little error there caused the photo not to show. This should work:

No need for the photo. Max2K helped me out. Would just make the message longer.

Thanks Max2K!!

Congrats on the purchase and welcome!

The noise will get slightly louder if you take off the wind deflector. I'm sure others would agree with that statement.

I don't remember how much the carbon fiber kit goes for, but you can search for threads in this forum (5th gen).

I like the Bose system and don't plan on going aftermarket anytime soon... performance first!

Get the subwoofer fixed

Do a search and you will see that some folks have the same problem. It can be fixed. Fortunately, mine doesn't do it so yours shouldn't either. How much did you pay, if you don't me asking?

I got it for $22,500.

I'm pretty pleased with the Bose system. I noticed the subwoofer rattle as well. I'll definitely look around for solutions.

I did a quick scan on Nissan Autoparts and they have the 6-Disc changer for $278.40 + 37.60 for the install kit. The "Fits Models" descriptor says "w/Factory or Dealer radio". Does this mean the Bose as well?

The USA-SPEC model is listed on premieraudio.com for $234? Or is it $299? Does this include the mounting hardware? Any advantage to getting the changer through Nissan Autoparts over premieraudio?

Again, info is appreciated.

I'm sure that someone would have called me on my Honda-related name at some point. So rather than go through the motions, I decided to make a change. So here's the new name...

congratulations on your new max! i have had my se for about
4 months now and have really enjoyed it. i really like the
bose system, like you i was looking for a changer, i went to
some of the local stereo shops and they all talked about the
bose system as if it was a piece of sh*t or something, what
nerve. i think it sounds great, i havent noticed any rattle
yet. as for the dash kit i am looking for a wood dash kit and shifter ****, i have found some on the links connected to this site and also at autoanything.com, they also have the carbon fiber, alum. etc...

hope you enjoy your new max as much as i have!

Why couldn't someone just help out I30swimmer and let him see for himself that it's not a good idea? I don't understand why MetaOrbit all of the sudden tuned into a ******** when someone just wants to try something and learn for themselves. Maybe you should let off the steroids for a while MetaOrbit. Just because someone doesn't want to take your godspoken word for it doesn't mean you have to break down into a cyber roid rage.
Happy Thanksgiving to all!
