Frankencar Install questions on 2001 (kinda long)

I got the group deal on the Frankencar intake and installed it on Sunday. A couple questions came up during the install. I sent these questions to Frankencar and have received no response. So I hope to get some help here.

The mounting bracket that came with the intake doesn't seem to fit. It is about 5" long and seems like it should be 6". Has anyone used this bracket? How did you attach it? Picture would be good if possible.

There is a 'thing' attached to the MAF that was attached to the bracket that the stock air box was attached to (does this make sense?). This 'thing' has a vacuum hose going into it. Without the stock air box bracket there is no place to attach this 'thing' and it is just hanging. Any suggestions for attaching this? Sorry I don't have a camera to provide pictures.

I have the air flow sensor plugged into the mid pipe. However, the tension on it is very tight. I've removed the clip and the tape to get more slack. Is there any way to get more slack or is this just the way it is? Could I slice the plastic conduit and get more slack?

None of these problems seem to interfere with the performance. Solutions would just clean up and complete the installation. Anyway, thanks for any help you can provide. I love this intake. It sounds soooo gooood and I think the car is more responsive. Sorry for the length.

Anyone use the bracket that came with the Frankencar? Appreciate any help. A good picture of the installed intake would be helpful (midpipe and MAF).

for the thing on the MAF, just take the metal piece that it was originally attatched to and put it back on the car. (it should screw off the stock airbox...)

and the ATS i just left mine in the scoop and plugged the hole in the midpipe, seems to work fine like that and it doesnt affect anything... you might try that if you dont like the tension, i dont know if there is any more slack to be had cause like i said i left mine where it was...

Try turning the bracket around. It attached to a bolt right on my driver side strut tower.

I havent put my bracket on but if you rotate the MAF so that the corner with the screw is pointed to the strut tower, wont that give it less of a span from the intake to the tower?

I had to bend the bracket a lot before it would fit into anything. It look like they just bend it with a pair of pliers or something. Maybe its these stupid brackets that make the shipment of these intakes so damn slow....
I'll try to post some pics on my www

Yes. You can turn your MAF to get the screws closer to the strut tower and help the bracket fit better.

Thanks for the replies. I will try rotating the MAF to get the bolts closer to the strut tower. I do have the air flow sensor plugged into the mid pipe and it works fine. Just thought I might be able to get a little more slack. If I rotate the MAF I will probably have room to put the original air box bracket back on. I'll figure it out and thanks again for the input. I love this intake. I do notice a 'whoosh' noise when moving at idle speeds. Assume that this normal. You guys are great and I've learned a lot here.

Here's a pic of how I used the bracket, like everyone else I had to use a pair of pliers to bend it a little. It seems to work fine for me though.

I have a question, has anyone's SES light come on since they installed the Frankencar/Apex'i Intake?

Here's mine on a 2k3.

A bolt broke off in the hole that normally holds stock airbox so I had to use the hole you see in the above pic. The bracket, no matter what direction or how I aligned the intake, would not fit so had to bend that piece of **** up using my foot and a pair of pliers.

Why did you go through all the trouble. I took a hammer and made it line up right. Actually likes up perfectly.

Its cuz I'm an idiot. I later heard that I shouldn't use the bracket at all because the engine moves and the intake should move with it. I tried it without but I would always hear the filter bang against the drop resistor casing and I didn't like that...

I've had the bracket on for about a month now and no problems. I think the couplers allow for enough movement needed for engine movement.
