Wire (+) providing constant power?
Wire (+) providing constant power?
I'm gonna try and install some PIAA 910s soon and was just looking at the instructions. I want to run these completely independent of the other lighting on the car so which (+) wire in the cabin (or somewhere around there) should I tap into for the switch? I'm guessing I should tap into one which has constant power no matter what, but which wire exactly? Does anyone know the location/color etc.? Thanks in advance
edit: the fogs are 110W and have their own relays..don't know if this makes a diff. but I dont want to tap into something that'll have me blowing fuses.

OK you got an 02 which should be the same as my 03.
For my cell phone and GPS I tapped into a wire that is always on.
Lower LH dash fuse access cover removed. You will see a plug on the RH side below the row of fuses, the blue wire on the right is the one I used.
Best way to go though is with a volt meter set to DC volts. Take one of the probes and sharpen it to a fine sharp point. Put the other to ground. You can pierce through the thin vinyl wire covering and see if you get 12 volts. Any of those circuits though, can only be used for the relay. The power to actually light the lamps should go directly to the battery.
If it were me, I would pull relay power from the running (parking lights) so I wouldnt have to turn off the PIAA's seperately. Look at the "how to" section fog light rewire and this may help.

under the dash...the thick blue wire is your ignition wire.....that gives you the best current witht he most power (40A). since you are relaying, i will assume a switch. you can do that 2 ways. 1 way, running the relay switch AGAIN to the blue ignition wire, will let you turn the fogs on and off even while the car is off....i wouldn't suggest that (what if you simply forget). idea number 2 is simply to tap it to an accessory. your cigarette lighter adapter is an acc. wire. it only works while the car is on, so even if you left the fogs on, the second you turned off the car, the fogs would shut off as well. any acc wire will work.
