Tranny/Clutch Problem
Low on gear oil (or have a gear oil leak)?
Sit vehicle on a flat surface, get a 1/2-inch-drive breaker bar and/or ratchet, remove the filler plug, put your finger in to see if the fluid's up to the bottom of the filler plug or shortly below it... (do it with the vehicle cold, else the fluid will be SCORCHING hot)
reinstall filler plug tight... like 25ft/lbs with a torque wrench if you have one (similar tightness as oil pan's oil drain plug)

I just got my gear oil replaced and and it was making that sound before i got it replaced. I have not noticed and leak in my drive way or will it just leak when i am driving. and no it does not sound like my reverse gear, much higher pitch and it winds down not up. I never hear it on the freeway or even going 45mph. i only sometimes hear it when i am slowing down. alot of times it just does it when i drive short distances.
