Beat a 02 Auto 540 in a quick Jaunt He also owns a 97 Max
This guy 35ish was taunting me for several lights on 121 on my way from Frisco to Grapevine(Dallas area) so at 1 light I knew it was on he looked at me and I looked over with that look. I was edgy to get a good lauch light turned green I took off no wheel spin(I learned to launch it good before I didnt) so did he( I did get out a little quicker than he did) we went up to about 70 and he was at my rear bumper, we shut it down and at the next light he said good run and that he had a 97 Max that he wants to trade in on an 03 he was looking at and he said he's going to get it now after seeing how my 03 ran against him in that quick race. What does
the auto 02 540 run to 60 and in the 1/4, thanks?
He Can't Drive!
As a Maxima owner (my wife), and an ex 540 (1997 auto) owner, I can tell you that a 540 can lay a good beating on a Max; unless the newer ones are slower. It's often said that every now and then there is one car that comes off the assembly line with extra punch, and that must be your car (lucky guy!). Unless that guy can't drive, or his car is seriously bummed out, there is no way a regular Max can pull on a 540. My older one (with many problems) still pulled with a freight train's intensity, and pulled harder with higher speed. It also hooked up great off the line because of the rear wheel drive. I can honestly claim that my car has dusted mustangs, camaros, and pre-2000 Vettes. I dumped the Bimmer because of constant electrical problems, and bought a ZO6. All said, the Maxima is a far better car, but generally not as powerful or as fast (usually)

Road and Track clocks the 540 auto time at 14.3. But, they are known the easily break into the 13's with good rubber.

I believe him, and I've been in 2k2s, but the bimmer is quick. It takes a damn fast car to beat a 540. GREAT KILL!
